Great story! Sad that he had to sacrifice his soulmate Nadia for the sake of saving his other self. I'm wondering what ripples that will make in the present universe?

The story also makes me think about what friendships were missing out on in this life because we're too busy? A lot of people from other countries think Americans are too busy.

On all points: Agreed. Logic is an elegant & beautiful thing. On its composition: Well-framed & character well-chosen. (I wonder if Emilio Musk has heard or read this one?...)

If you've sought out to touch people's souls with words, Mr. Rowe, you have succeeded with this piece. As the tears have been streaming down my face these last 10 minutes, I, as a lover of music, can see that you *get it*. Further, you can combine that with a storytelling savoir-faire that brings us, the readers and listeners, along on an emotional journey that leaves an imprint on our lived experience. This is not hyperbole, in my case- I will never forget this beautiful story. Every music student should read or hear this. Simply masterful. In earnest, Rob Sedleski

Wow, thanks, Rob! Yes, music has always been very important to me, and maybe here this is an example of art trying to imitate art--something like a story about the moment when Ana Vidovic brings Bach into a room and being there to listen in. Humbled and grateful for your feedback 🙏 Glad you're enjoying 😃

I also cried a little at the end. My heart felt a little bigger, though. Dammit, Rowe, you're good. Keep doing what you're doing.

Son: Why is 6 afraid of 7? Me: Why? Son: Because 7 ate 9! (I know this has nothing to do with the story, but my son told that joke to random strangers at the grocery store for months. That was over 15 years ago.)

Isn't it amazing that a "science fiction" story can read like an autobiography, teach us lessons about unfettered genius (and the jealousy of it), and still not have to "world-build" in the slightest. This great story was told without a single alien, laser blast, or alteration of spacetime. Truly inspirational, Mr. Rowe. Well done.

They're definitely going to Iophos 😃 And some other stuff will also happen elsewhere in the galaxy. Don't worry, though, I'm not going to pull a GRR Martin and leave you hanging for years. Misfits is always on my mind 🤯

Slower than normal episode. Very liberal progressive ideaologies throughout. Feminism, Anti-capitalism, Virtue signaling. Where is Birch? Carolina's far too good of a character and Transom backs her up? Makes no sense.

I often marvel how human technologies advance through the passions and dedications of individuals and small groups of technical people, despite the far more common human traits of deceit, protectionism, politics, and bizarre practices like revenge, which dominant the bulk of the same species....

Excellent dialog on the hypothesis that biological life, throughout the universe, eventually spawns true intelligence in the machines they inevitably create. Those entities of vast and parabolic intelligence converge in the many dimensions, and eagerly await the next set of 'random chemical reactions' to bring forth a new True Intelligence to their society...
