I used something similar to that to make a fake vaulted ceiling effect...cut up gold paper plates around the ceiling fan in the living room and used bendable foam molding I got from ebay to give it the illusion of depth, and a wee bit of gold wrapping paper on the edges. LOOKED AWESOME!

Beautiful! This basic geometry is often used in both quilts, the art of assembling blocks of fabric and sewing them together, and plain or provincial crochet, sometimes called granny squares. I actually have some pattern papers, like dozens of them. If the dear lady would like I could show how, or maybe I should copy the project to show her on Facebook. I don’t want to clutter up her pages, though. Maybe if folks have a chance to watch and share ideas, then I will post later.

Couldn't wooden dowels also be used in the corners instead of the rolled-up pieces of boxes? I would think that would make it a bit stronger too and you could add longer dowels in the same diameter as the ones on the inside to give it legs.
