Excellent review Dave. Thanks for checking it out and giving it an endorsement so we can buy with confidence. For the price you can't go wrong.

I love digital multimeters, but sometimes I still love an old analog meter.

Analog meters are like visiting an old friend. Just a nice old school feel using it.

Thank you, David. I have a good collection of multimeters. Could always use another when trouble shooting a system. N0QFT

Hello Dave, hopefully you will want to answer, but if not that, is ok. I have bought the Sangean ATS 909x2 radio. I had a reason to stop the order but was to late. Is the unit a good one? Or a keeper?

HI DAVE, QUESTION, I have built a five element quad antenna out of pvc pipe and speaker wire for 2 metres 146 mhz to be exact what would the forward gain be for this please, and any advise about it would be great and how better would it be if I put two more directors on it. Thank you, David HS0ZQA from Northern Thailand.

I use rechargeable batteries. You can get AA and AAA rechargeables and get good chargers for them. The very low price chargers are not very good. Many of them only charge 2 batteries at a time. If you have something that uses 3 batteries you can charge 2 of them but the third one. They are charged in series, so if you have 2 batteries that are at different charge levels, they will not charge right.

It's very annoying when equipment uses odd battery numbers. I have a thermostat that uses 3 AA batteries so one is always wasted. Lousy design.

What is bad is when you have something that uses a strange battery the needs to be ordered and takes weeks to get from China @@jonfreeman9682

Just my 2 cents .. Why bother with cheap digital multimeters? If you are amateur or professional it 's only about $200 for a a very good digital multimeter. I started with a Simpson 260 about 1967.. Now I use a BM786 from EEV Blog. Works well for my digital signal processing projects.

Those are quality meters you mention. For most home repairs and basic electronics a cheap meter works fine. I've gotten by on $20 meter but you're right it's not a huge stretch to buy a quality meter.
