I remember meeting her years ago in Wynne, Arkansas at a gospel explosion. She was singing and suddenly hit that "high note" she was known for and the whole auditorium erupted! Rest on Legend!

It’s the end of November of 2023 and I am listening to this. I just got done listening to Mrs Inez sing my favorite Lord Don’t Move My Mountain. I love Mrs Inez’s voice. Those notes she she hits is like no other. I swear when I listen to Mrs Inez sing I feel closer to Jesus. Listening to her sing makes my soul happy 🙏🙏🙏🙏

There’s such a story behind this song historically It is one of this most significant songs of the negro spirituals Slaves in the US sung this song to connect it to their desire for freedom, it was also song in code to assist those trying to go north, get to Ohio, Canada etc.. slave free places The song became significant during the Civil Rights Movement While I so appreciate the song I’m don’t get overly nostalgic, there’s a lot that was wrong then and now with folks exploiting church members with foolishness, greed, abundance= materialism, not a fan of organized religion. I remember years ago hearing Inez Andrews say and read in articles about how she was treated by men in the gospel industry, a bunch of sexist a-holes, not wanting to compensate her and other women fairly, so I don’t glamorize this time If folks have left the church it’s the churches fault… you can’t run the game and bully this young folks with organized religion

Thank you Terrel Cam so many of them are gone on to be with the Lord. Tina passed away in 2010 and Inez in 2012. They will always have a place in my heart gone but not forgotten.Clay Graham passed in March this year 2018

M Lewis yes I have an album of them I just discovered them on the internet And Lord I keep playing Mary don't you weep Albetinas recordings over and over.There are a lot of the old school Gospel singers gone on.Albertina made her journey in 2010. I Inez in 2012.she was such a stateswoman she stood and sang like she was talking to to Mary and Martha.. I read somewhere that Dorothy Norwood is gone..will express more later.It seems so many has transitioned.they were in their 80s.To God be the glory for the things He has done.these ladies reminded me of Mahalia Jackson.

Actually it’s Richard Gibbs, an very accomplished musician in his own right and the son of Inez Andrews. The great Billy Preston died in 2006.
