Awesome Video on Alcatraz, "The Rock" but this only 1 of 3 fortifications that defended the mouth of the "Golden Gate" or also known as the entrance to San Francisco Bay Area. What about Fort Point and The Battery of Gun Emplaces on Angle Island? These 3 defenses were know as "The Iron Triangle" and all but insured the SF Bay Area and its valuable Gold exports to go unmolested from the day of their birth to the the day of their decimationing and replacement or repurposing! Very interesting history and a must see if you are a fan of history!
