I think Brian was a willing participant but he was double crossed. As soon as that bomb was around his neck the poor man was a dead man walking. Its a very sad & tragic case.
@InfamousCrimeLocations2 жыл бұрын
I could totally see that. They did practice the day before with a fake one. I wonder if they put the real bomb to make sure he wouldn't chicken out of the robbery
@kenn19362 жыл бұрын
that was my take on it. If they tried the bomb on him the day before then it comes down to two things -one - he was only trying it out and they would choose a random victim the next day, or two - he really believed it was a fake bomb. there is no doubt in my mind he would have told the police everything, had he known it was real.

Great job on this Harmin! Both of my parents were from Erie. My mother's home where she grew up was right next to where Brian Wells rented a small house at the time of his death. There was a bigger home in front of it where his landlord lived. I could not believe it! My mom told me that in the 60's a barber lived in the bigger home and used the small house where Brian Wells later on rented as his shop for his customers. I remember this well from my childhood and it blew my mind!

My husband and I mapped out all the locations and went to them as well when we were in Erie to see my daughter. We live about an hour and 45 minutes away and she went to college there. I think he also was involved in the planning because when he was in the bank, he was way too calm when asking for the money but at some point, they turned on him and he realized he was being had.
@retroman--2 жыл бұрын
Wasn't he casually eating a lollypop? Didn't he wait in line at the bank. no urgency to run to the front and get things going so he can get the bomb off his neck. I think he was involved but they wanted to kill him in order to keep his portion of the money.

The device didnt blow his head completely off. At least death was immediate. Investigators followed the directions Brian had. They said there wasnt enough time for him to locate the last two keys to deactivate the device. And, the keys were not at either location. He was a dead man.
@hermessantos160110 ай бұрын
I've read that the bomb opened a fist size hole on his chest. Later, they had to decapitate him to remove the device. This case just gets more and more absurd the more one knows about it.

I think the most logical explanation is that Brian was involved and agreed to wear a “fake” bomb. That is why he was essentially so calm during the robbery. Even him saying “there isn’t a lot of time” to remove the bomb and save his life was part of the plan. He probably expected the police to help him as a victim. He likely wasn’t too bright to agree to it, let alone expect to be the victim after the fact.
