I found your channel while looking for old Oancitizen videos and became an instant fan! I love your analysis of Blue Velvet and agree that Jeffrey is overall a gender-neutral character, but I always felt because Jeffrey could be seen as a child-like state of purity between an abusive paternal figure (Frank) and an abused female maternal figure (Dorothy.) Hiding in the closet becoming a silent witness of the abuse, a solidarity with one parent against the other parent that could bordeline become on emotional incest, a fear on seeing yourself repeating the cycle of abuse you saw your own parent commit. These can easily be read as signifiers of a child growing up in an abusive household. Then there are Jeffrey's own parents, who frankly made me think more grandparents than anything else.

That's a pretty interesting theory - I'm not so much into more freudian levels of interpretation but that's just me, and you make some great points. I'm really glad you like my videos! When I started I was definitely inspired by Oancitizen so I'm glad that there's that crossover :)

Although Bob only targets girls in Twin Peaks there are some hints, given by Leland Palmer's backstory, that he might be abusive towards boys as well.

Yea there was the episode where Leland dies and describes how he knew Bob as a child. There was not so subtle hint he was abused as a child from Bob and did the same to Laura but at a little older age.

There are LGBT themes in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Laura Palmer is bisexual and although she does bad things because she's become mentally unhinged after years of sexual abuse, she isn't evil like Frank.

There's kind of a subtext between her and Donna but it's not overt. I really appreciate that Lynch made a movie about Laura. He made her more than just a body on a beach.

I disagree that Jeffrey was forced to shoot Frank. When Frank was in the bedroom he could have left but instead he grabs the gun and goes back into the closet. He made a conscious decision...

From the expression of his face it’s something that he “has to do it” and just finish with it, he’s surrendering that there’s no other choice than kill him. If he left the nightmare would’ve probably just continued.

David Lynch always tried to be different, he chose his characters and story neglecting the social norms and breaking the stereotypes, be it Eraserhead, Elephant Man, Blue Velvet or Mulholland Dr.
