@@Carol-wc8ss Never heard of a little place called Ukraine? WWI with modern weapons, pretty much. Plenty of trench warfare going on over there. Regardless, if there's going to be prolonged fighting in open terrain, there are going to be trenches. It's just the nature of the beast.
@Carol-wc8ss2 күн бұрын
@@MFKR696 yeah, if you were in the CAF around this time(2014), you noticed the switch from GWOT training to trench warfare. I guess sarcasm is hard to gauge on KZbin lol

Great to see motivated soldiers practicing their skills. My time in service 1967-96. The 1st half in the combat arms. x2 infantry reserve Regiments & x1 regular armoured Regiment. Battlefield Drills & Practices a critical aspect of army life. Best wishes going forward.

Hope the Infantry reserves time didn't see you obtain any Injuries which made you regret picking a combat arms trade instead

Dude this is all good. Dismounts are on point, trench clearing looks like an applicable concept. Everyone looks like they are using a lot of common-sense infantry. The doctrine of the average infantryman is solid. Our Army does lack a lot of what you guys have and makes us jealous. Awesome stuff!!!
@1anre2 күн бұрын
Do you make up for it in other regards, though?
@NLYS272 күн бұрын
@@1anre The men like squads and firearms do but this is usually due to the failure of leadership. In the US Army, we have a lot of political ideology-driven and incompetent people in charge. Every Amy is always changing so will see how it changes in the future or we get into a near pear conflict and we get all wiped. Thats our biggest fear is having to get smoked for people to get fired or kicked out.

I was in The Battalion from 1979 to 1982 at Wolseley Barracks in London, Ontario. I was there when Prince Phillip came to visit and renamed our company, then Delta Company, to the Duke of Edinburgh's Company. We even got our own pennant/flag with a slogan in Latin. Something about "2 men 1 shovel" I think. It disappeared into the Officers Mess, never to be seen by us again.

Another great video! I'm in the enrollment process and my specialty will probably be infanteer or armour soldier. I won't be with the RCR, but who knows, maybe one day I'll train alongside you guys. Take care

Back to future! I seem to remember clearing trenches the same way in Wainwright AB. When it was the Operational Training Detachment. We were always told “dig faster, dig harder and you’ll live longer”

@@XCimenaticGamingI think QoR is also cool. Was just surprised as the 48th being your first choice as if there were other things they might have as an infantry unit that other infantry reserve units actually lacked. That'd have been a gem. I think they're also a Scottish Regiment like the TorScotts
@XCimenaticGamingКүн бұрын
@@1anre I know a lotta dudes are going to QoR, problem is that the QoR doesn't fit my schedule tbh, training happens on Wednesday nights still a full time student and wanted to try something a little bit out of my comfort zone, I know 48th trains usually Friday nights and one weekend per month which actually isn't bad, but again I still haven't fully decided my choice yet I would probably go QoR if they actually respond but my CO & one of my WO's within my RCAC squadron actually recommended me go to 48th instead despite for me actually wanting to go to the jumpmaster route with the QoR cause unfortunately they just happen to have to train on Wednesday nights again still open to other choices other then the 48th though.

Nice video. From what I've seen open field operations with armour and infantry tends to end in bloody failure in the Ukraine war. Drones that guide artillery, drones that blow up soldiers and even armor. We need technology that can effectively jam drone signals.

Cool video. Do the CAF ever train against USA, UK, etc. forces? "Friendly" competitions in their territories? Such as Canadians going against Americans in the Nevada desert (as we do not have deserts).
@JoshBortolottiКүн бұрын
@jeremythebeer8609 Of course. The 101st Airborne came to Latvia last year while we were there and played the "enemy force". 1 RCR also went to Estonia to play the "enemy force" against the British during that time. It's not so much friendly competitions for the sake of competitions. They are always in relation to real-world training that needs to be done. Canada had done training in some desert areas of the US during the Afghanistan days.
