Ah reminds the silly idea I had for an Ork Warband. They caught themselves a Daemon Engine Predator tank and kept it under control by feeding it ludicrous amounts of ork alcohol. When the time would come to fight they would cut the booze off and between its natural aggressivness and a massive hangover the tank would go nuts shooting up everything in its sight. While the Ork Warboss is standing on top, riding it while holding onto a few chains attached to the hull, so he is not thrown off.

This video got me thinking about the direction GW has taken with Choas related codices, and the missed opportunities therein. Instead of giving us codices for the god specific legions, they could have given us a Traitor Guard codex and a Dark Mechanicus codex. A Dark Mechanicus codex would have been a great place to expand on the available Daemon Engines. It would also be a better place to have the Vashtorr rules. The possibilities would have been endless, and Chaos players wouold have had options beyond Daemons or various flavours of Astartes.

Ironically, there was a daemon engine that fits the "daemon-possessed superheavy bomber" idea Arch brings up in Epic; the Tzeentchian Fire Lord, which was protected by daemon engine jets called Doom Wings. Not bad ideas, considering the only other Tzeentch daemon engine of the time was the Silver Castle; a literal daemonic castle that floats above the planet and just hurls down psychic nastiness on an epic scale.

I can see Hashut (yes the Chaos Dwarf one) as the Chaos God of the Dark Mechanicus in Warhammer 40,000. Before the Fall of the Eldar was one of the Big Four. Got into a fight with one of the C'tan known as the Void Dragon and very much so lost and was splintered. When Hashut finally recovered enough to regain a consciousness he woke up only to discover that his old place is now occupied, by a new Chaos God that bested the Eldar God that bested the C'tan that bested him placing Hashut fairly down the power ladder from the rest of the Big Four. Hashut now seeks not to just regain but exceed his former strength so that he could regain his place among the Big 4 be it to unseat the newcomer, or any of his former peers.

Arch, for fucks sake. A water jet cutting metal isn't cutting it with the water, but with the sand the water transports and accelerates. We have water jets that can cut wood with water alone. So, flaying is probably possible.

1. Acquire skull. Preferably not one from the skull thrown. The guy atop it wants to horde them for some reason. 2. Dip skull in molting metal heated by the souls of the dammed. 3. Embed a living soul into the skull. Imps are great for this as they fine with small tight spaces. 4. Secure skull into cartridge making sure to have face facing forward so it will be heard screaming before impact. 5. Store where it will not explode sending flaming imp bits raining down friends and allies. Unless needed to explode raining flaming imp bits on friends and allies.

I love that bit of lore about the Heldrake once being xyphon pilots in the Horus Heresy who flew into the Warp. Now the pilot is just a little embryo inside the guts of the Heldrake and it can only watch because the machine spirit of the aircraft has taken over, becoming a bestial predator.

As if Daemons weren't bad enough, why not shove them into an ungodly tank that physically cannot function under normal circumstances. But Daemons don't care for "normal circumstances." They do what they want, except leave the vehicle they are bound in. Defilers will always be my favorite Daemon Engine, mostly tanks to how useful they were to me in Dawn of War. Lord of Skulls are a favorite that follows close behind for how ludicrously insane their design is. Daemon Engines are so cool and I love them very much.

As far as firing souls at folks? Most ideas around that in fiction is that weaponized souls would only affect/interact with living or ensouled things and more or less blast away the life of things while avoiding armor. Though it is mostly styling on folks.

We also have to remember that daemons kinda hate being bound to physical forms. Its one thing coming out into the materium as your horrific self. Another to be put in some horrific stagnant object. Hell, at least a human body can be torn apart and molded into something presentable. So these things are kept in stasis, bound with chains and incantations, kept fed with the souls of innocents and beaten into something resembling submission outside of the madness of the battlefield. Even then, your average forge fiend has a glorified beast master of the dark mechanicus nearby to yank its leash and apply the spray bottle when it wants to devour the warband's leader and not the enemy

The burning soul cannon makes some sense, as the soul, in 40k, is a force of some kind. Demons consume souls to grow stronger and sustain themselves, which implies energy. Any consecration of energy tends to make a big boom.

Point of Order. RL Water Jet cutters. The water is the medium to carry an abrasive power. Its the powder that does the cutting, not the water. The abrasive is used for metal etc. A water only jet is for soft materials, like paper, wood and rubber. PS. Titan's have always been one of GW major silliness. 5-10K tonnes resting on two very small feet. Any Titan would sink up to it knees, at least on any surface. Outside a Forge World. I cant see many place having roads capable of supporting a Titan. A heavy lift (747) runway is made of a couple of metres of of various materials topped with half a metre of concrete. That's for a 215 tonne plane landing.

I always figured the flaming soul cannon rounds... Were the dark gods throwing away the souls they didn't want. Maybe they worked an agreement with the other gods to return one of the souls owed to them back and rather than just 'hand it back' they fling it at someone they hate and then just point to the god in question as if to say 'there it is. Go get it.' It is as stupid and petty as it sounds... And possibly entirely in line with them.
