We already have a big city with a population around 75K, but my target is to reach at least 500K. This series is played with infinite money, but even so I am trying to keep a good economy and make things work as in a real city.

The reason the cars are using the bus lanes is because you need to forbid them across the whole road between crossings. Applying the ban only on one segment will not work.

The reason why the cars are using the bus lanes is because either you didn't set vehicle restriction to strict in TM:PE options
