AHH!! I forgot you hadn't seen their latest comeback. They came back from enlistment FIGHTING! Everyone was like..wait..SHINee can get better? Minho was fiercer than ever. You could just feel how happy he was to be back. Key went crazy. Onew somehow got even louder. Taemin was back home. DCM is once again SHINee being SHINee by doing something super different from before and owning it. To me this is them putting their own spin on the current 4th gen sound and pushing it a little further. The beat is so addictive. Minho called everyone to push for this song when he heard it. They said this choreo was harder than Everybody's aka their hardest choreo (no one ever covers it). I imagine Key showed up with a box of hats and said, "This is the concept." For MVs, Key directs (with members input) the concept and works with their stylist. The same stylist who does Exo and Kai's solo looks.

For their latest Don’t call me comeback, they also performed code, heart attack, marry you… I would do a stage mix version so can see outfits and video not get blocked… marry you doesn’t have a stage mix as they performed it once on The Ringtone: SHINee is back. For DCM (don’t call me) live Stage I’d do studio choom version and a mix stage so you can see all the outfits. Also for promotions they went on to IU’s palette show and covered her song Dear Name. It’s a beautiful cover and the lyrics are touching that feels like it’s for Jonghyun (Jonghyun and IU we’re good friends as well. She’s done some collabs wether music, acting etc with SHINee members except Onew and she said his voice is her favorite/ the one she’d want if she was a male singer). Also for promotions they performed their song from their comeback before the 3 oldest went to military: good evening on The Ringtone: SHINee is back. And they each performed their solo songs also on The Ringtone: SHINee is back Onew’s voice and vocal skills really shines in all the songs of this album. You should do a reaction to Atlantis repackage album as there are 2 songs added. Their b-sides are always amazing and title track worthy…said so themselves. Body Rhythm is a favorite for a lot of people in this album. In this era, Key/SHINee started the clowning of the ending fairy trend. At the end of their stages when the camera does close ups while they look into camera, Key thought it was weird to do so and that’s why he started making funny endings starting with breathing heavily like he was so tired from performing

Ahead of its time/futuristic is the definition of SHINee. Fashion by Key, as expected…even so far as adding the Pearl Aqua yarn to his sweater. Piano by Taemin-legend. You should check out their relay dance to this-it’s phenomenal. I don’t remember seeing artists/idols cutting up during relays before SHINee (just like Key started the fun ending-fairies). As always, SHINee sets the trends.

Jonghyun had the most exceptional voice and was the best K-pop artist in Korea along with his fellow shinee members if you get the chance look up the song coward that jonghyun did before he signed with SM and became a member of shinee. I've been waiting for you to review this song... when they released this song, I SWEAR I was bumping it for weeks, several times a day. Listening to it in the car with the bass hit different. I was obsessed and I was so happy for their return. Being with them since Replay, I got goosebumps. If you check out Atlantis, they actually pay homage to Jonghyun in the choreo and that legit had me crying.

Thanks for yet again another video that was a pleasure to watch 🙏 idk if anyone's mentioned any of these yet, but - - - - - DCM era FUN FACTS - - - - - 💎 SHINee trended #1 worldwide on Twitter pretty much all day immediately after SM suddenly played a mere 1 minute highlight compilation, of all the group's title tracks over the years that ended with a "2021" fading-to-black slide along with the iconic "SHINee's Back" whisper, during their free globally streamed new year's day online company concert 💎 DCM is one of Lee Soo Man's (SM founder & head producer) most treasured favorite songs that he was holding onto the demo of for a long time and actually intended to give BoA as the title song for her 20th anniversary comeback but she thought it was too powerful for the vibe she personally wanted to go for at the time and felt it sounded more like a group track so when Minho heard about this at a meeting he jokingly asked for it to be given to SHINee since she didn't want it and then it really became theirs so the song was then re-engineered to fit them more instead 💎 SHINee's version of DCM is basically their take on the modern/new-gen sound of K-Pop that arose during their group hiatus to show that "we can do what all these kids can do just as well if not even better" and Atlantis, which was the follow-up repackage title, was held as more in tune with the "signature" sound that SHINee's actually more widely known/recognized for (that specific type of strong harmonied vocals and melodies) 💎 SHINee (first & mainly Key) singlehandedly popularized the trend of "Ending Fairy" memes during DCM's music show promotions. This basically is where idols do more than just simply stare still while the camera is set and zooming in on one of them at the very end of their live stages. These 30 year olds came back after their longest hiatus of 3 years and proved that they're still in this game and can still hold their own amidst the 3rd and 4th gen groups. True legends. I'm fairly certain you can react to their first performance video of DCM or you can check out the Studio Choom one so you can see their choreo if you want to. They're in their 30s and can still hit those quick and intricate moves. Even other idols voted their comeback stages as the best. I'm excited for you to check out Atlantis too! Retro sounds were trending amidst the industry the past couple years but SHINee's been doing it forever and Atlantis (and that whole album really) didn't disappoint. If you want to see more trendsetting MVs, you can check out Everybody(kind of electronic dubstep and one of my favorite choreos) and View (first time SHINee had creative freedom over the MV and kpop's intro to deep house). I personally like many Shinee songs released during 2015-2016. Some of those songs have official MVs/stage videos right here on KZbin: "View", "Odd Eye", "1 of 1", "Married to the music", "Feel Good", "Prism",... And the album "She Is" is really good too. It's Jonghyun's album. I think on KZbin there are official MVs and stage videos for the songs "She Is", "White T-shirt" and "Orbit" from that album.

Because Taemin is also a member of SuperM, I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM Entertainment's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connecting SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence, Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force and EXO's/SuperM's storyline. As with everything that SM does, it's been designed to all connect. All of SM's groups' concepts and MV storylines connect together and it's all part of one giant Universe and story that started in 2012 with EXO's debut. To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to keep in mind that it all began with EXO's origin story. As you know, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. And as you also know, SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai have recruited members from SM Entertainment's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force. So, because of this all of SM's groups have storylines that connect. As mentioned before, I see connections between EXO, SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me." And most recently, we saw Baekhyun from EXO/SuperM on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai from EXO/SuperM on train tracks and people on a subway train platform in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and as it transitions to "Mmmh." We also see Key in a train in his solo debut "One of Those Nights" MV. And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. Which I think is all connected in someway. The train station/subway platform in "Don't Call Me" also is given a very futuristic EXO-like feel with the view of space and the planets in the sky when you see SHINee dancing on the train platform. I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the phone booth submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." (And now that he has released his solo "Hate That ... " MV, I also think that scene with Taeyeon standing on the rock in the middle of the ocean is connected to that scene as well.) Then it looks as though the members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to the scene in SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV when the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping." The members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from taking over the world, etc. As "The Avengers," SuperM is taking the "best" members from each of SM's groups and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. So, if you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight. And because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen groups with the introduction of aespa last year -- are being designed to connect stories and plots. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connections between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen. That is why I think that even though SHINee are part of the second generation, that SM is now working on bringing them into the storyline. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that NingNing's butterfly in aespa's concept from 2020 could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MV from 2012, and some have even made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in their "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV from 2016 may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's recent "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s "When We Were Us" MV in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. And SM has even brought Kangta, who is a member of the very first Kpop boy group H.O.T., which debuted in 1996, into the storyline with his most recent solo MV remake of H.O.T's song "Free to Fly." So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing everyone into the storyline, including their older groups and artists. This is a fun way to see how this MV was shot and what it's like when SHINee hang out together. (If you like the piano in this song, just wait until you see their live performance. The piano becomes even more noteworthy in the live. I won't spoil it, you will just have to watch it to see what I mean. :D) This comeback was in celebration of the fact that Onew, Key and Minho were discharged from the military and SHINee were finally all back together again after 3 years. This comeback was in February last year and Minho was the last of the members to be discharged in November. So SHINee produced a full album and learned the choreography for several songs, etc. within the span of less than 3 months. (All while Taemin was still in the middle of his NGDA solo album promotions and SuperM activities, as he geared up to enlist in May.) Just another example of what makes SHINee such legends. Also, notice how there is a 7 in the apostrophe in Don't in the title of this album -- this is SHINee's seventh full length Korean album. Fun fact: Did you notice the pearl aqua accents with those brown outfits that SHINee wore in the MV? Pearl aqua is SHINee's fan color, so they incorporated the color into their outfits by, for example, weaving the aqua yarn into Key's sweater and dying the collar of onew's jacket aqua, etc. :D And Minho not wearing a shirt is a nod to the fact that he is known for being extremely fit. Minho was literally voted best abs in Asia and was named one of the 12 hottest men in the world by Vogue magazine in the U.S. in 2015. Just wait until you see SHINee's "Dynamite" performance from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul from 2015, you will see what I mean. Minho is also known for his passion for sports and for being the top idol athletes, and because of this he chose to serve in an elite branch of the Marines. He was one of the top soldiers in his unit. He even delayed his discharge date because he wanted to participate in some intensive combat training exercises. So he was just showing off the abs he has become well known for.
