An anti-hero isn't a villain. In literature an anti-hero is someone who tries to do the good/right things but their motives are often questioned, they are misfits & misunderstood (think Deadpool). Taylor has said most of her career she's felt like an outsider & misunderstood, & all the false narratives people create & spread that others who know nothing about her just believe & spread is pretty awful. She's in a pretty good place now & the fact that this album has already shattered nearly every record (she's the first artist to ever have all ten of the top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list at the same time, album sales this first week were over 1.5 million, & she broke Spotify just to name a few) is amazing! The Midnights album is all about things they have kept her up at night good & bad!

yess more taylor! was hoping you'd react to her one day her music is so versatile from starting with country music, switching to pop with ease back in 2014/15 and going more folk/indie during the pandemic :)

It was so fun to see a non ‘swiftie’ react to her video. In her fandom we all hunt (like it’s a Sport our life depends on honestly 😂) for Easter eggs and she always gives so many. You actually picked up on some that you just don’t know the back story for (why would you, when you’ve never listened to her before). I’d love to see you react to more Taylor! Her bejewelled music video is fun. Also her ‘look what you made me do’ video is absolute chaos and it would be amazing to see a non ‘swifties’ take on it. But also any video where you can really see her song writing and vocals would be great. Loved this reaction so thank you!

I happen to love Taylor Swift and her music. She has been writing the most creative lyrics since she was 12, and considered one of the best in that category by the industry. She also plays the guitar and the piano. Very talented woman with millions of fans and for some reason, millions of haters. I'd love to see you do more Taylor Swift reactions!

@@infin8reactions My first suggestions would be "All Too Well" (orig. version) which is a fan favorite (not a pop hit). The live piano performance of it from the 2014 Grammy Awards is great. There are just so many. Sorry haters, she is an incredible artist, lol!

She doesn't have millions of haters. Only few and those few are only on social media. People ik who are not into stan culture or social media knows her and appreciate her, even if they are not her fans.

👍😎 Taylor is 5'11" in her bare feet -- she towers over most girls. She likes high heels and dressing up -- which makes her 6 foot 2. The giant is also representative of her success in the industry; look up her sales sometime. She has a lot of fun with her fans, who are fanatical about her. The press varies, but she sells almost as many views to her detractors as her supporters. Being the center of a lot of mostly malicious/ salacious press has sometimes left her depressed; she's always been a bit anxious about her looks(too tall), her weight (too skinny), her age.(from too young in 2006, to almost out to pasture now). Meanwhile, another album went platinum in two days. NOT the first time, but the first time since 2017's Reputation. good catch on the anexoria -- she did a documentary a couple years ago, and admitted starving herself, getting triggered by photos of herself looking "fat"

Taylor is an incredibly creative artist and such a great lyricist - a lot of her B-side tracks are works of art. I definitely recommend checking out more of her music because she's tapped into a few different genres due to her versatility. I feel you would enjoy her reputation album! I would recommend her Look What You Made Me Do music video and also Ready For It? MV.

With your love of lyrics, Taylor Swift is a great one for that. Some of her better ones as far as writing goes - All Too Well (10 min version)a - Nothing New (my personal favorite - it hits) - Exile - Safe and Sound - Blank Space - You Need to Calm Down - Red - Wildest Dreams Her lyrics are pretty straightforward and the meanings aren't hard, but a lot of her songs are written a lot like poetry - the imagery and a lot of her double meanings are wonderful. I listen to songs for the lyrics specifically, so these are my tops over some of her more catchy radio hits, but there are more (I'm sure) that you'd enjoy!

I think she refers to staring at the sun. Being on stage with the lights towards her. I may be wrong. But I think that's from a Pink Floyd song

I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I know many of her hits and they are well written, catchy songs. I think you'll enjoy them, too. Her fans can be a bit too much sometimes, so brace yourself - the comments are going to blow up. All in all; her music videos are often very creative & funny. My favorites are "Blank Space" and "You need to calm down". Oh and also "Shake it off" (can't believe you haven't heard that one..).

You need to watch All Too Well - The Short Film. Not only is the 10 minute song a masterpiece and master class in songwriting, but she directed the video as well, which so far, has won every video award that has been given out.

First… I enjoy your reactions. That being said, I actually think you don’t think you really “get the story” as you say around 3:19 about the lyric about being willing to stare at the sun but not in the mirror. I’m being a little pedantic in that statement because this is in reality a deep song with lots of messages that I think are not clear in their face or different than they appear in their face. Being a relatively new TS fan having never intentionally listened to her music prior to about 9 or 10 months ago, I struggled with understanding parts of this song the first few times I heard it. She definitely uses imagery in this video to help better tell the story of the deeper meanings. However to really get the deeper meanings, it does take seeing it a number of times listening and then also understanding a little more about her and her life and what she had gone through in the industry. I came to this video because of your more recent reactions. I would encourage you as you start to go down this rabbit hole and learn more about her to come back to this song and revisit it. I think you will appreciate it more and understand at least her perspective from which she wrote it better and what the lyrics may mean to her, while leaving them open to speak to different experiences by others. Overall I believe it is a song about mental health and battling your own demons and at times your own “self hatred”. For example for many women, negative body image is a very painful reality, where there is great meaning in the lyric about being willing to stare into the sun before looking in a mirror. While TS often intentionally writes in a way where her lyrics have multiple meanings and she intentionally leaves them vague enough that listeners can apply them to their own experience, Taylor has revealed she suffered from an eating disorder during parts of her career, which is likely part of her own experiences which drive this lyric. But again she leaves them vague enough that along with the “I’m the problem, it’s me” lyric, the staring into the sun but not in a mirror can also very easily be real and relatable to someone who does have a bad side and avoids looking at it, whether that be toxic behavior or self sabotage or even an addiction. So your interpretation wasn’t wrong just not likely her primary driving intent. I think the other primary message of this song from her perspective is showing love to her fans who have continued to root for her year after year after year and in the face of massive media and keyboard cyber bullies in social media who have at times painter her as the problem I her own life and in the lives of everyone around her. She is acknowledging that she is often not portrayed as the hero but the opposite and that it must be exhausting for her fans to keep supporting her. That isn’t true. Her fans I have found truly love her. But from a mental health perspective this is a demon many of us face. We start to believe in a way all the negative stuff people say about us and believe our own “failures” and problems are weighing down those who love and care about us. I know I have had the thought myself that it must be exhausting at times supporting me through some of my traumas and dark valleys. There are so many other concepts in this song that need to be mulled over to understand and often seen in new light when listened to multiple times. I wasn’t a huge fan of the song the first couple times I heard it, but like a fine wine the more I hear it the more I appreciate it and find nuances. I hope you continue to enjoy and explore her music. I have personally found in the last year, as you said in a recent video, that TS and her music and her talent are not at all what I thought the last 17 years and that like much of the public seriously misjudged her. She is insanely talented and funny and kind and strong and cutting and her music defies genre and subject matter (despite common misperception) and convention. The minute you think you understand her style or perspective she writes and shows something entirely new. It is a rabbit hole that is wide and deep and a truly enjoyable and at times inspiring and emotional ride.
