Wow I've been following you for so long and never really expected you to cover Stray Kids. They're my favourite group at the moment. I came from the rock/metal world and Stray Kids were my first introduction to kpop and they've taken ahold of me. Stray Kids are extremely interesting. Unlike most kpop groups they're entirely self produced and their leader Bang Chan (blue hair guy at the start of the video) handpicked each of the members. They make all their own beats, lyrics etc. and are pretty experimental with it. They've sort of coined their own unique genre within kpop and whilst they have a lot of supporters they can also get a lot of haters for it too. They also have some very fun songs talking directly to the haters and when they were criticised for 'just making noise' made a whole album called Noeasy/Noisy. I would highly highly recommend trying out more of their stuff because I feel like it might appeal to you in the same way it did me. Their song Venom might be a good next step. They also just released a new pop rock style song as a gift for fans on the fandom's 4th anniversary 'Time Out'. If you wanted a brief starter list I would suggest Venom, Thunderous (a retaliation to being called noise makers), God's Menu (one of their breakthrough tracks that boosted their audience), and Cheese (opener to the Noeasy album, a fun tongue in cheek reply to hate). Hope you enjoy this journey as much as I did.

Wow!! I'm a fan of Linkin Park too. I love rock music, and my ultimate favorite rock groups are Green Day and Linkin Park. I know Kpop since 2011 but I was not interested. Then I discovered STRAY KIDS music video "God's Menu" during pandemic October 2020. Now, Stray Kids is the ONLY Kpop group that I love.

Stray kids produce and write ALL of their own music. Which is really rare in Kpop. Every song has meaning to it. Skz are very different. They have a hand in all of their concepts and everything. A lot of people classify them as their own genre because they literally create any kind of song they want, so it doesn't always sound like straight Kpop. They put their own spin and create the music they want to make. Also that fandom name is Stay. They end every single music video with "Stray kids everywhere all around the world, you make stray kids stay" Also Linkin Park was my very first ever favorite band as well! I still adore their music! I highly recommend God's Menu. They also just released a surprise gift for the fans it's a new song called Time Out that has almost a punk rock vibe to with with singing and rapping you should check that out as well!

The best thing is that Stray Kids write and produce their own songs. They are fucking genius when it comes to share messages. Some info about the song : The song is called maniac, everything in this mv references back to that word. --The drill is something psychiatrist used to use for lobotomies back in the day to "fix"insanity. --The bird references the book One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, a book set in an insane asylum, And also to the cartoons when they hit they're heads there some birds turning around. ----They reference screws because when you are different or odd you say you have a few screws loose, and this song is about unleashing your inner true self so they reference Frankenstein because he created the monster who in reality is a reflection of his true self. The two worlds in the mv represents the fake world we live in and mask ourself in while the dark shift world is our inner self constantly hidden. Stray Kids never do anything half way and Nothing is ever random; every aspect, image, choreography, reference has meaning. Thanks for your reaction! You will love thunderous and Gods Menu, Double knot, district 9….we’ll all of them. My favorite 4th gen group but BtS will always be my #1 but damn they are great! Like BTS, they (3Racha) produce, lyrics, beats, concept and the list goes on. They have a surprisingly amount of freedom to do as they please. I would also HIGHLY recommend ALL of their Kingdom performances. You will be blown away.

Stray Kids! Yes! These 8 young men are fabulous! I discovered them just over a year ago and dove head first down the rabbit hole. Now, after hearing more than a hundred songs…they don’t make any bad songs. All their music is great and their lyrics meaningful. They write and produce their own music which is pretty unheard of, especially in the Korean music industry. But these guys really are special. There are no fixed positions in this group. They all sing, rap and dance at expert level. Some are better than others at specific elements (ie.. Changbin-rap, Hyunjin-dance, etc; but all can and do perform all aspects excellently. Please, more Stray Kids! ❤️🙏😇

Stray Kids are a very talented groups. They produce their own music, and they have a pretty large discography with over 120 songs since their debut in 2018. They have the best 4th gen Kpop rap line, and each member can sing, rap and dance. I recommend you start with the songs from their latest album Oddinary. Even their trailer to this album is amazing and worth watching. I’d love to see your reaction to Freeze and Venom next.

I would say it depends, if you are a person who has just entered to see other groups besides BTS, you probably think that they are all the same as BTS when in reality all of Kpop follows a certain rule, a certain order. When you see more groups you will realize the differences of each one and how some stand out more than others, I understand why you don't have to compare yourself with more than BTS but the more you listen to Stray Kids the more you will realize the differences. I appreciate your reaction and I recommend "God's Menú" is the most representative music of them and their "Mala Taste" sound given specifically for them.✨😊

For more of Stray Kids' harder hitting and rap heavier tracks, I'd recommend Venom and Freeze from this most recent album, Oddinary. Also recommend Thunderous, God's Menu, All In and Side Effects for a high proportion of rap and/or a harder feel. Thunderous uses traditional Korean storytelling rhythms and gestures in some of the rap sections, and integrates traditional Korean instruments and costumes. They pull in influences from multiple genres--trap, dubstep,, Middle Eastern and Indian rhythms, grunge, metal, hiphop......for a sample of their many styles, check out Circus, Miroh, Back Door, Charmer, Lonely Street and unit tracks Red Lights, Surfin', Drive and Muddy Water. (Muddy Water does not have an MV, use one of the color-coded lyrics videos). They have some ballads and more introspective songs as well, but even their softer side has a lot of intensity. Three of the group members form their in-house production team, called 3Racha (the name is a pun on the Korean hot sauce sriracha) and they have full or partial credit for production and/or arrangement, composition, lyrics on pretty much all their output. Every member has been credited for composition and/or lyrics on at least 2 officially released tracks (I think more for almost all of them but I didn't go back and count through credit listings). The group leader, Bang Chan, is Australian/Korean as is Felix with the deep voice, so they have a lot of English lyrics and make puns and wordplay across both languages. Some tracks have been fully or partially recorded in Bang Chan's own studio. The group works closely with several respected producers, both kpop and non-kpop based, and have input into their choreography and some of their video content.

As a person who grew up with Linkin Park I found that Stray Kids scratched the same itch. They are very diverse in discography and vocal tone (instead of using their voices in harmony they use it almost like a separate instrument and individualize each person). With Stray Kids their title tracks are usually about who they are and where they are going while B-sides are handling more difficult topics like depression, anxiety, workaholism, hate, societal pressure.... What I really love is that they don't care about trends and popularity, they make music that they love even if general population does not like it. And they are very experimental and bold since members themselves are producers of their discography and can do whatever they want.

There is a line in the first verse that you missed and its pretty good " back to cosplaying as what society defines as normal". The song is not that much about fake people, but about you being 'oddinary' and it is ok. It is ok to be different so just be yourself. StrayKids is really different, I'm more into them than BTS. But, if you want to see another side of Kpop music, I suggest you GD and T.O.P - Zutter, it's really different, the golden era of kpop.

Just my opinion, Stray Kids are so much edgier than BTS. From their music, sound and videography. These boys are amazing.

I'm Army and BTS will always be my ultimate group, but Stray Kids are prob my next fav group, I prefer BTS genius lyricisms (RM's brain and Suga raw lyrics), but stray kids has more interesting hype songs and their choreo are amazing! When I wanna feel safe, relatable, love, and comforted I would listen to BTS, when I wanna feel hype and fun then I listen to Stray Kids.
