Back in the day, left meant “sinister”, if you were left handed, it wasn’t a good sign. As a kid, I was left handed and forced to write with my right hand. All villains in DC Comics are left handed. The latin word “on the left side” is translated to be the word “Sinister”.

According to Simmons, (as I understand what he said), the premise of the song is that Simmons (in makeup) portrays the "Demon". And because of that, and the foolish assursions (sp) that people always had about the band being Devil worshippers, etc...He is trying to show those people's hypocrisy. By pointing out that, yes, there's evil in the world. Always has been. However, Simmons and the rest of KISS are not evil. They are simply playing characters. Because here Simmons is, just a guy in a Rock band...but a lot of self-righteous politicians and such send people to war. So no. The lyrics have nothing to do with religion, religious beliefs, or the lack of any beliefs. Basically, in a nutshell...much like the Ozzy song "Killer Of Giants"..."Unholy" is more political than anything.

It was a big deal when they showed Kizz on MTV for the first time without makeup. It was like a whole episode. I remember watching it and thinking ok let’s put the makeup back on 😂 Great song though 😊
