The design and location of this part lends itself to failure. If you have a loose trim piece, it would be advisable to secure it with some industrial or automotive strength double-sided tape.

I used the gorilla tape on mine and it ended up falling off today. It lasted for about 3 weeks and then simply fell off when I lifted the hood. Weather has been warm in Texas.

Bro I got my chrome strip from the dealer. And it has the hooks. Very easy installation. It looks weird with out the chrome but doesn't look that bad. Let me ask you this will the hooks hold for a while?

Ed, I have an 08 M45 S, the clear coat on the headlight lenses is peeling. Have you experienced this? How difficult is it to replace the plastic lenses or better off treating it like oxidation?

Removing the lenses (hence headlamp housing) requires removal of the bumper. Most people dont have to remove/replace the lens. I just found my chrome at the junk yard...... questions can I convert my non gps car to gps if I plug a gps dash dvd and monitor in my car?

There's more to converting and equipping a non-navi car with the navigation system. For one, there's the monitor as you mentioned, then the navi unit in the glove box, the GPS antenna... I am not certain how different the head unit is nor about the harnesses and the base model car being prewired. You might need to do some exploration, tearing both cars down to compare. Do you feel like you're lacking something by not having factory navigation? I mostly use my phone.

Well I went to pull a part and I saw all the pieces sitting there. The controls panel dash the dvd gps and the monitor. So I figured why not. But your right if the wire harness is different Im not going to bother. I guess it’s the idea of having it to watch movie on. I Found a site that sells a box that bypasses the Navi normal function and allows dvds movie to be played

It didn't have navigation either, and still doesn't. The catch was that it already had the armrest DVD player. If the car doesnt have the DVD player, then you've got to install that. For that I know for sure the car is not prewired. ... Then we still cannot watch the front screen while the vehicle is in motion; you have to get that bypass module. It's a lot of work, and when you do the math, a portable tablet starts sounding like a better option. For media, the rear screen is more useful to me as it entertains the passengers.

I was lucky to get mine from a gentleman parting out his car. Otherwise, I was ready to spend $100 on a brand new one from one of the online dealers.
