This is a comparison, road test and review of the 2013 INFINITI G37 IPL 6 speed coupe, the top performing G37 Coupe at the time, to the 2017 INFINITI Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD, the top performing INFINITI Coupe for 2017.

While the IPL failed and did not succeed as Infiniti hoped it would, it is still a terrific looking car and super fun to drive a manual. Had one before and traded it in and now about to buy another one bc I miss how it looks and drive- you don’t buy this car for speed , you buy it bc you love the way a 6 speed manual drives on this platform

I traded my much loved IPL for a 2016 Q50 Red Sport (not Q60). The 3.0t engine is a major improvement, torque everywhere, and I'm getting about 5 miles a gallon more city driving. The IPL was a lot of fun, but the Red Sports are a step up in every sense, except.....they are too quiet, need a better exhaust, and the stock Dunlop run flats on the RWD models stink, they are easily overwhelmed. Give a Red Sport an aftermarket sport exhaust and plus size Pilot Super Sports and go looking for Germans.....

I have never owned a car with a tablet like screen but I dont think I would like it much. I like the practicality of pushing buttons over pressing a screen. I think the q60 is a good looking car, but I still love my g37 though.

If you can find an IPL for sale today you would probably get a decent price on one. A Redsport will cost you over 45 grand. I would rather save 20 grand and buy an IPL.

If the IPL had the Vr30 it would be hands down but sadly not. Having a boosted engine means less reliability but much easier power gains compared the VQ which I feel like is most VQ owner's gripes. You are pretty much not touching more than 400hp without boosting a VQ (which requires turbo, ecu, tune, etc) the VR30 comes with all that out of the box

I have a G37 and I love the interior. Clean and simple. Easy to get to everything without looking. I want to upgrade to the Q60 red sport so bad but I hate the dual screen and weak transmission. For 55,000, it needs a transmission upgrade to a dual clutch transmission. Especially if you are gonna call it a sport.

I had to get the 5 year or 100K maintenance package for an extra $1,400, it covers everything accept light bulbs, break pads and oil changes and i can go to any garage in the country including dealerships for repairs.

Overall the I think I like the exterior of the Infiniti Q60, it engine and interior better then the Infiniti G37. But I like the face that the G37 coupe has n/a engine and it exhausts so much louder and sexier then the Q60. You can't go wrong with either one.

I've never driven any manual Nissan but I've heard very good things on the G37 and Q60 with a manual transmission but I had some Hondas in high school and I bought a Subaru when I was 18 and unfortunately totaled that but I bought a new 2015 Subaru WRX base and it's been fine and I haven't had any issues but I'm thinking about selling it and getting a used G37 IPL or a Q60 IPL with either having a manual transmission because I don't care for automatic transmissions but hopefully I will find one with not very much milage that hasn't had a few owners.

Before I bought my G37, I wanted a manual transmission but non can be located in their inventory. Not any from other Infiniti dealerships either. 7AT is fun, but I still wish I had a 6MT.

Manual Infintis are very rare, sold is very very low numbers when new, so its hard to find them on the pre-owned market and likely why Infiniti dropped them altogether on the Q50 and Q60.

I would recommend getting a '10-'14 G37xS. The sport model has the bigger Akebono brakes, stiffer suspension, rear wing and a few other goodies.

INFINITI revamped all their model names for 2014 so many of their products like the G37 became the Q40, the QX56 became the QX80, the EX37 became the QX50, the JX35 became the QX60, the M37/M56 became the Q70 and the FX37/FX50 became the QX70, and of course the G37 coupe became the Q60, all had their names changed with no redesign for 2014.

Its easier to get more power from a Turbo engine than a non turbo engine, but careful how you mod it up or it could void the warranty.

Former G37s coupe owner.... I absolutely hate the direction Infiniti took with the q60... Was not a fan at all.... Bought myself a 2014 BMW 6 series X drive coupe and haven't looked back! I miss how much fun my G was and the exhaust sound, always thought it sounded like a supercar lol... If Infiniti grows some balls with design like they did back in the day example some of those concept designs and come out with it, could come back to the family... Until then BMW is where I stay

I love manuals in fact i despise autos so much so i refuse to drive an auto under any circumstance particularly non dct, however this is a no brainier the Q60 is light years better. I'm asking all reviewers and manufactures to please stop advertising your product as having aerodynamics, the 991 gt3rs has fucking aerodynamics! aerodynamics are meaningful, a lip kit is a cosmetic enhancement.... being lowered an inch has minimal impact on the street. There's nothing aero related about a G37.
