Hey Sir Roger! I hope you're feeling and doing great now. Your massive drum sound and your drumming style in Queen's Montreal 1981 tour introduced me to play drums. Thank you for inspiring me for 12 years and counting. Im 24 y/o

Loved hearing those cymbals. I bet Roger never had to drill holes in his cymbals to stop them cracking any further like I did. Mind you though, one of his cymbals probably cost more than my entire kit did! Keep safe, everyone.

I love huge,double bass, 70,s Rock kits like Rogers,Neil Peart,s,Phil Collins,Keith Moon,Carl Palmer,Alex Van Helen,Simon Phillips,Vinnie Colaiuta.....all had huge kits at one time or another,and when done well,can really lift the whole band ..... I remember watching Brian May saying that he was so lucky to have Roger as Queens drummer as he didn’t know how to play a yard of anything.....

@timdejong5934 жыл бұрын
Maybe an idea to call that band Smile. Later on there will probably be a change in the band and it will come up with a much better name. Who knows, maybe one day they'll score another modest hit. And then again with a song that of course the record manager doesn't see any point in. Sounds almost like a movie. Can I fix the rights somewhere?

Triplets at 2.32 , fill at start of the invisible man?. Great lesson well explained. Not just another show off drummer playing his fills. But telling you the reason behind it

Would love to hear that black Ludwig kit from the 'Jazz' Tour. I tried to recreate it in the 90's...10'' 13'' 14'' deep toms 16'' 18'' floor toms 24'' bass drum and a Ludwig Black Beauty snare 6.5 deep, 3 crashes, ride and 2 china's, roto toms and Timbales....only thing missing was the Gong which was out of my price range. Wish I still had it, been a Queen/Roger Taylor fanatic since 1976 [10 years old] Roger, Mick Tucker [Sweet], Bonham [Zep] and Ian Paice [purple] were the best drummers in the 70's...all brought excitement in every song. Drummers sound like robots nowadays. Can you imagine being a 10 year old and having Roger Taylor giving you drum lessons on your TV screen? No words!

No such thing as an old style. Double strokes are essential for for rudiments like 3, 5, 7, 9 etc stroke rolls and by mixing and matching you can make amazing patterns for fills. Also a paradiddle requires a couple of double strokes. Triplets Bonham rock and roll need I say more.
