We’re now going to take a look at the news rules for digital warfare in Infinity 3rd Edition! Killian and Carlos have a chat about the changes to hackers and how they’re going to effect your games in the new edition.

I sure won't. It was in second edition, and I was playing military orders. De Fersen tried to hack some Combined Army monstrosity, but it hacked him back and killed him.

I love how almost every aspect of N3 is focused on giving you more options and creating new, interesting tactical situations. A wider utility for hackers, clear rules, incredibly convenient charts that make it simple to tell what you're doing. N3 is showing exactly how to handle a new edition. It's not breaking what came before, but just making it more useable and interesting.

Have only been in the table top hobby for a month now, practising my painting and and assembling on 'hand me downs' and I felt I was finally ready to take the plunge into one wargame that gave me multiple play style options. I must say. Infinity has done that for me :')

Well, Carlos just made a very happy Nomad player! With the sheer amount of repeaters in the army, Nomads can use a lot of the new abilities very aggressively, especially the new forward observer ability. There's also the fact you can give the Reaktion Zond a B:5 HMG in ARO!

I really like the idea of having multiple types of programs that you use. The differentiation of the hacker devices will keep me interested and experiment (not to mention with the addition of weapons and tools).

It'd be a nice addition to their slip cover book set if they included a nice, sturdy, two sided reference card with all the essential tables.

I love the possibility to be able to "cast" an upgrade on your remotes. The new options are amazing, and i will finally be able to use more hackers, which i always wanted.

Those hacking skills reminds me Shadowrun when you enter the matrix or you buff up your characters with magic skills ! And now, also Hackers in 3rd Edition have been improved ! Massive army lists and tactics changes, super positive :D

These are some very good changes. I was always a little put off by how limited hackers could be in some instances, especially in regards to their one hacking ability.

Good to see hacking get rolled into the same kind of mechanics as how normal shooting works, feels like it might make it much more streamlined. Gotta admit though, with my memory I'm honestly hoping there isn't too many programs for me to try and remember, else I'm gonna need to carry around a cheat sheet just to remember all of what I could do.

Hmmm... I can see my Ninja Hacker being more useful for my JSA army, especially with hidden deployment and TO:Camo... curious how Isobel will function with the defensive device for my Ariadna army. I'm thinking forward observing for my Uragan without needing line of sight... hard to say if that's support or assault in the new rules though.

Here we are, the most interesting N3 stuff as a Nomad player lured into the game years ago thanks to malicious Interventor Morgana. So they’ve decide to uptrun all the hacking phase so to introduce new possibilities on one side but dramatically streamline and simplify on the other. Really dunno what to say. I’m excited as it is a brave new world to explore of tactics, effects and combos of them. I’m glad they have the intention to improve the hackers in the game. Sometimes they look like very expensive models wearing next to useless gizmo if the opponents deploy next to nothing influenceable by hacking (i.e. Ariadna). Now even lo-tek Ariadna lads will start to tremble (sometimes though) when an Interventor comes into action. However I do not like on the spot the change of BTS in a sort of ARM value implying then a sort of ARM roll against hacking. Indeed I liked the way as the hacking affects enemy targets that seemed withoud any defence if the opponent didn’t deploy any hacker to defend. Anyway it’s better to wait to see the whole picture and keep the faith in Bostria&co. as he said they wanted to improve hacking as a worthy part of the match. So finger crossed and hell friggin’ yeah for Tunguska’s Interventors! As a last note now I’m curious about what would be of EVO reps and HD+ advantage now that everyone could FO via HD as it seems.

Nice to see hackers will actually be useful, and not just some expensive shiny tool, you have to include in your list, just to not use it in 90% of the games, and in the rest 10% keep arguing about how it works.

so a Q-Drone with HMG + total reaction + 360 visor + repeater + upgraded reaction +1 burst = burst 5, 360 ARO, dmg 15. nevermind Q-Drone take a pair of Reaktion Zonds or Zayin Rebots and add Climbing Plus to the list of awesome. i love the idea of buff programs, maybe down the line we will see defensive hacking devices that specialize in buffs, for exe +3 BTS for 1 turn.

This is a very welcome overhaul for hacking. The idea of finally having hackers in a wargame was a big part of what drew me to Infinity initially. Then I started watching battle reports and was disappointed to see most either didn't bring any hackers or they had a minimal effect on the table. Now they get a huge range of tactics and can be properly feared.
