Today we're playing Haqqislam using Hunzakuts (thanks to Dan A for the list construction request) vs Varuna. We do a deep dive into multiple Varuna lists for channel supporter Kittenmarines, including some changes at the end of the video to better meet some of the challenges Varuna had to face and overcome this game.

Interesting approach in List building for Varuna, Especially the one where you take an Haris for occupying The Armory.

Just reached the end of this. Really good batrep, and I love seeing some Haqq, of course. Just a couple of thoughts and ramblings from me: - I like hunzakuts still in ITS 15, but just as a one-of. I use them actively. Move towards an opponent. If they delay then move again and try to get DepReps in their DZ. If they discover then take the unopposed FO (Burst 2, WIP14). Really good with Guided. - I really like your Mukhtar hacker placement and actually I don't think the odds were in the ZCs favour to kill the hacker quickly. It would have been what.... 3 dice on 16s vs 1 die on 11, and thereafter 3 dice on 16s and 1 die on 14 once surprise has gone? Coupled with the fact that hacking battles can end in catastrophic failure (a single lost F2F vs a hacking device can see you isolated), and that Mukhtars have BTS6 and 2W, I think it's a very bad move for Varuna. Dice calculator has the Mukhtar taking well under 1W per order from the ZC, so I think you played this really well. - I would have liked to see Varuna push the TAG hard on T1. As soon as they played passively, I said to myself, "Well Rob is just going to use their turn to create a Repeater and Mine hellscape now and the Varuna player will be locked down". Not surprised this happened. When playing against a Haqq list like yours, I think highly hackable lists are against the clock because they have limited time to establish their position before you tighten the hacking noose. - I would have liked to have seen the Cutter make the move on T1 that it did in T3. Vaulting onto or around the building that your 2 HVTs are hiding behind. I can't fell from the pictures but it looks like doing so would have given it shots against Zuleyka and then depending in the height of the silhouette perhaps Knauf, the Mukhtar etc. - I think a Haqq list like this is starved for regular orders so what the PanO player can do is try to strip those regulars early so that you're left with just the irregulars and therefore can't do anything because you're in pseudo-LoL (I mean 1 order per troop because irregular). - One of the other reasons that I adore Hunzakuts came up at the end. Very often troops move around to remove a DepRep and a Hunzakut simultaneously (I think it was a ZC here). The Hunzakut can ARO with whatever is most favourable, but a good move is to place another Repeater. If the ZC splits burst between the existing DepRep and the Hunzakut, there's a moderate chance the Hunz lives and you end up with ANOTHER DepRep. Likewise, even if they kill you, there's a moderate chance the existing DepRep lives. If they get super lucky and kill both, you just place another at the end of the order before dying, and they have to spend another order doing it again. If you're also taking other AROs at the same time, it's a disaster for their order efficiency. Really good BatRep overall. I think it shows the zoning potential Haqq really well. My personal feeling is that the Varuna player (Ed? Edd? Sorry if I spell it wrong), didn't play aggressively enough to stop you (Rob) making all the moves you wanted to make.

A lot to chew on for Varuna. I'll have to try out the cutter more often. Thanks for the video!

Hello Robert. May i ask - are you concidering producing more of those strategy guide "presentation" videos. I would be happy if you'd maybe cover strategy and listbuilding for specific missions - i. e. How to build lists specifically for quadrant control missions, and how to play them out?
@R0bertShepherd6 ай бұрын
More longform presentation content isn't strictly off the table, but they're a lot more effort to make which it's difficult to find time for these days. But I can talk about how i approach specific missions as I play them. :)

What an absolutely hilarious game. Thats doctor play 😂. Totally agree with everything said about my boi Hunzakut. I think on paper they actually look really good. But the context of vHaq / Dashat, and O-12 P is not kind. Really hard to find a slot and support for one never mind two!

I kind of disagree with Rob's comments about Hunzakut. I think you can use them very aggressively, and I often do. The classic play of course is to move forward, see if someone discovers and if they do, go for the 2x WIP14 FO then guided. If they reach the enemy DZ then you can litter the place with repeaters and re-camo. I wouldn't use them if it weren't for the unopposed FO trick though.

You can deploy a failed infiltration on the SIDE EDGE?! This changes everything lmao I never seen it before but the rule checks out.

Interesting that there are no Kamau

Kamau appear in one of the two lists we cover, which feels like about the right amount. :)
