I was thinking of using a glass with reflective film for the lower mirror too: the lack of light on the back of the glass, facing the bottom of the table, should make it behave like a first surface mirror. Do you think it could be an option? Btw, yours is mesmerizingly fantastic.

Not sure. it will probably work but the reflection might not be very bright. The good news is, if it doesn't work good enough, you can replace it later. So it's worth a try.

If I decided to proceed with the creation of a DIY first surface mirror, my fear is that the reflective layer, now exposed to the atmosphere, would oxidize quickly. I read in your comments that you initially also thought about opting for this solution: did you have a workaround in mind to solve the oxidation problem? Can you suggest an idea to protect the reflective layer once exposed?

I added the measurements to the description. I was making this up as I went, trying to create what was in my head. It's made from 1x4 pine on the exterior, and wood from an old weather-beaten pallet on the inside. If you have specific questions, I'll answer them.

This one is really my taste 😉 I decide to build myself but noticed that all privacy film have silver side as sticky side so film have to be apply from the top of the table 🤔 to work correctly. The taller the better. But you can knock a few inches off and make it work. If you do two ladder rungs, keep them evenly spaced with half the distance from top and bottom : if 8” apart then make them 4” from top and 4” from bottom. This way the reflection keeps them evenly spaced

@@paramshah7241 It's 3/8" tempered glass with film. The box has inside walls and outside walls. The interior walls are 3/8" shorter than the exterior walls. The glass sits on top of the interior wall and the top frame anchors it in place.

I’ve seen videos on these as well as tensegrity tables and I really really wanna combine the two at some point This one was one of the more satisfying illusions. Sometimes the LED’s are overly present, but this one was great

That's what I was researching for. I've for some really thin aircraft cable. I'm trying to figure out a design that won't be too heavy. I'm also worried that not having the sides will ruin the illusion, especially if the size requires us more than about six inches.

Overall measurements: 21 3/8" (H) 27" (L) 19 3/4" (W) mirror and glass are 16 x 24"

For the ladder rungs and nuts, I left them outside and sprayed them with water bottle a couple of times a day for about a month. For the metal straps and light switch, I painted them black and then with a multi color textured spray paint. The light I coated with spray stain.

Edit: Nvm just understood, top ladder part has a bigger offeset, translating down. Faked, the ladder prongs stick out oddly far on lower levels, meaning it couldnt have been repeated.
