Thank you so much for making these videos! I was able to do the repair by myself in my front yard. Saved a huge amount of money. For anyone who is looking into doing this... whew. It's a job. But doable. I used an electric impact wrench (the strongest one Dewalt has) to take off the crank pulley bolt without that tool that holds the transmission. Another note, there is a tool that will hold your cams in place--use it!! I didn't rotate the timing to top dead center, and as soon as I took the timing chain tensioner out, my chain jumped both sprockets. Thankfully, I had marked them, but took forever to get it back into place. Start with the front bumper, make a very thorough check list of everything as you're taking it apart (and use it as you put it back together). I forgot to tighten the alternator nut after install and it haunted me for a week. Again, thank you thank you thank you!

Man that is good to hear. I'm glad that my videos help people. Sometimes just watching someone do it the first time it takes the fear away from the job. I have learned a lot from other you tubers I just wish they could be more thorough when explaining things.

What is the name of the tool that holds the cams in place?

I haven't done a 350z. But the 3.5 is almost the same. But don't quote me on that

@@AngelGarage it broke again after being repaired? do you think it’s a good idea to stay away from these?
@AngelGarage4 жыл бұрын
@@Twotonetaco I'm thinking it wad my fault. I should have used the upgraded gasket it's thicker and stronger. But I used the stock oem gasket. I learned about the better gasket after the job was done. In my opinion with this car I would highly recommend extended warranty. Mine expired 2 months before it broke the first time. I have a friend that has an infinity and he has no issues. It's the luck of the draw I guess

I'm confused. You removed all of that just to show that part of the galley gasket and a piece of metal was stuck in the screen?

I have other parts to this video showing the sequence of events from start to finish on fixing the problem. Check em out it might help with the confusion

Thanks for the service manual information and linking to nicoclub. I didn't know such resources were available like this for free. Any chance you have one for a manual 2006 BMW z4 3.0 si? Or if you could point me in the right direction, I'm helping my relative out with his vehicle.

Ever find out what metal was?
@AngelGarage5 жыл бұрын
No. But I've put 2,800 miles and no problem. The only thing I can think of it might have been shaving from when the engine was built.
