Holy fk 6hours, thats some effort and dedicated. 'cooperation of evil itself' I laughed Thanks for the in depth comparison between all phones. It seems rather clear that it's really more or less a battle between the chinese phones while Sony and Samsung are just so far behind they aren't even relevant. Pixel is more or less the new kid that tries but isnt quite there yet. Personally I think vivo got this, it seemed more reliable and won most of the comparisons, needless to say, the telephoto is just absurdly good.

Honestly, I thought the Sony Xperia 1 VI did an admirable job considering it's much more compact and lighter than its competition. It is often worse, but it's also often on par, and I think as a whole it was close enough to the competition to consider it if you prefer a cleaner (and nag-free) Android experience and a compact phone. I will likely buy 2025's Sony flagship since it's the only one that offers such a balanced overall package, in my opinion. If I want to carry something large and inconvenient (and almost impossible to use with one hand), I might as well carry a proper mirrorless camera.

Hello my friend. I will say, that I do not want to lie to myself, Xperia phone is kinda bad in photography, like not even close. In person, not on KZbin this photos are even worse, I just picked the best among bunch. I just want to give reality check, so people who will buy a phone know what to expect and not be upset. BUT, all you said about compactness, size is very true. Screen is bright and colorful, speakers are solid 4/5, 3.5mm jack is handy and looks like gave amplifiers built in, micro sd expansion is nice, and if we compare photo performance to previous sony phones, it is nice step up in terms of computation. If you will be able to find good price, it will be good device, I think 500-700$ is good price for this phone, i bought 512gb and 12 gb ram for 1400$ and sold for 900$ after couple of month, but was lucky, most of the people asked to sell for 600-700$. And please be careful with it, I suggest to buy protection case before ordering the phone, side aluminium frame is very fragile.

@@AlienTechnologies33 I have seen pictures taken by other compact flagships (such as iPhone 16/Pro, S24 standard and Pixel 9 standard) and frankly, I have preferred the Xperia 1 VI pictures every time (not just in this video) because of their much sparser use of AI reconstruction and denoising, which introduces smudge-like artifacts. And the sensors used in these compact phones are similar in size to the ones used in the Xperia. With small phones, after all, you cannot break the laws of physics, and so larger sensors simply won't fit... Very large chinese phones with large sensors do produce much better pictures that capture significantly more real detail, but even with the increased detail I dislike the AI reconstruction (which can be seen on all the chinese flagships in this video), they are much larger phones and, lastly, I do not consider chinese phones among my options as I do not trust their software. Beyond the size of the phones, the size and weight of the camera bumps themselves is also massive. I have seen many reviewers comment on how unwieldy and unbalanced this makes the phones. Being top-heavy makes them especially hard to use with one hand. I appreciate your reality check however. That said, I am curious: Did you take these pictures with the new Sony camera app? (The one that unifies the various camera modes into a single app). I have heard that auto mode is significantly improved, especially when it comes to avoiding overexposure. Finally, I would like to mention that these are just my observations and I still think this is a very good video. I did not mean to imply that you are being biased or unfair.

@issen2291 I used new app that was provided with phone. I tried to install old photo/video one, but it crushed. I have a video about OS of Sony kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4ipoKxteMtjpbs I found computation results to be very solid, sony just need to fix white balance and put better sensors in the future, and I think results can be very good. I loved color separation and contrast levels. My biggest question mark with sony is absence of old or new sony style apps and apps in general, for some reason my unit had call of duty pre installed, but no voice recorder, calculator etc.

The camera app has since received more updates. Among them, now there is a Pro Video mode as well. As far as I know, these updates also included adjustments to the automatic exposure. As for the apps, the only Sony apps are the camera, the Creators app and the media player. Everything else is Google apps. The other remaining "Sony flairs" are the Stamina Mode and the customized Action Center (which has a 4 column grid unlike Pixel). Honestly, coming off of several Sony phones in the past (Z2, X, XZ1, 10 IV, my current phone is 10 VI), I don't miss any of the other Sony apps as they didn't provide anything that the Google apps don't already provide. Strange that your phone did not include a calculator though. My Xperia 10 VI came with the Google Calculator app (as well as the Google Photos app as a gallery, and Google Files for file management). Sony Xperia has a minuscule market share, so the Xperia division only focuses on the highest impact software due to lack of resources. It is what it is, unfortunately.

What can we say about the intro and even the little outro... producer, director, script, video editor everything is there... and in the middle flows a river of the most complete and factual information on the very good cameraphones of this year (at least 3 of them :D). We feel that the X7U and the 14U behave relatively in the same way with camera technology while the X100U with this new periscope takes us into another universe. Meanwhile other brands serve us almost the same soup from year to year. In video I would put the 14U slightly above the others (X100U for extented zoom) but that is just pure subjectivity. Watched over 4 days... Damn busy IRL. All my respect for this tremendous travel. 🚀🪐👽🖖🛸🌍⏳

Almost 6 hours!! Thank you for this monumental, in-depth, and highly detailed comparison. I cannot imagine the amount of work this took to produce. I love the camera competition between Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Vivo is definitely leading now. I wonder how they will improve the Vivo x200 Ultra, because they pretty much maxed out the hardware already, I am not aware of any new Sony sensors. I think the smartphones are certainly close to professional cameras, but I don't know what it is, I can always still always that a photo was taken with a smartphone. They have some fuzziness, and a bit of an artificial, painted look to them often. In low light video I preferred the ZVE-10, that's when smartphones cannot use their computational magic. Apple, Samsung, and Google should start working on catching up, but they probably are not too worried about Vivo, Oppo, or Xiaomi. Samsung and Google follow Apple's lead, so if Apple adds a 1"-type main sensor, they probably will too. Sony is a good example of a once great company that becomes stagnant and bogged down with bureaucracy and unwillingness to change and adapt. Their whole smartphone division needs a shake up. Finally, it is incredible that there exists a service that lets you upload an almost 6 hour video in 4K for free. Pretty crazy when you stop to think about it.

I see the same stagnation but instead this time from Canon, Sony, Nikon etc when it comes to mirrorless, as on smartphone market from Apple, Samsung etc. I used to use computational Raw from magic lantern on my old Canon cameras in 2010-2012, I wish modern mirrorless can combine 3 photos with slightly lower resolution, so we can have clean raw file handheld, and presets for burn in raw settings, so we can have raw+baked final image, may be we can load luts, like on Panasonic cameras or Lightroom presets. It will instantly make ease of use 100 times better. And what will make it 1000 times better - android OS with custom mods, fast SSD and transfers etc, SD cards, even Type B cf express are already outdated tech, and think will go away soon like old Compact Flash from 5d mark ii

@@AlienTechnologies33 I think the smart mirrorless camera that you want, may come from DJI, not from Sony, Canon, or Nikon. They are too set in their ways. If DJI gets interested in this field and turns the rudder on their alien spaceship towards mirrorless cameras, they have a potential to disrupt the market. Sony already does oversampled video. It's surprising they don't do oversampled photos. Nokia 808 PureView did that and it still, to this day takes incredible photos. I don't want a full resolution, a 12MP photo with super high quality mixed with computational magic is more than enough. Anyways, let's see what aliens come up with in Area 51. All the best!

Now just to hope vivo brings high res option to all the pictures instead of just raw (which cannot use 200mp full capability) and high res mode. Imagine all of these tests if the cameras would be used in high res mode, macro, astro etc.. Edit 2: Vivo x200 ultra will surely be another game changer. I wonder if software updates will come with it to the x100 ultra too, I think so. It would be logical. I wish for a humanistic Pro mode with high res option and 200mp option. Humanistic mode is the simplest and prettiest most intuitive mode for me to use. If x200 ultra will be tempting enough (1 inch telephoto, or 300mp) I may aswell switch. I remember a few years back when the xiaomi s12 ultra I think it was called had a concept design of having full camera sized sensor on it's back, I really wish some day a phone like that would come out. That would be the nail in the coffin for full size cameras, if they're not buried yet.

Sliders controls are on Photo Tab. I use Portrait mode only for Face Retouching (Beautyfiers), it makes face "young anime" style. If I want serious approach, I use Photo tab with -10/-20 sharpness or even use sRaw. But I am talking about x100 Ultra, I am not sure about Pro version

Not all phones have oversharpening on computational Raw, on Vivo you can even make it less sharp with sliders. I want to escape from Raw editing, because i have spend all my life near computer doing the same tedious process again and again. I want to buy a camera, where i can load luts or presets, so i do not have to do anything in post. And i want a camera with computational Raw, like Magic Lantern on Canon cameras. I have thousands photos from previous vacations and traveling, that i have no time, mood and desire to edit. And some of them have highlights or shadows problems, because old cheap "travel friendly" cameras has weak sensors. I am glad that i have such ease of use of modern smartphones and Computational Raw+jpg options.

To get burst mode on the oppo you have to open the settings in the camera App scroll down to the photo category and then switch the setting "Touch and hold shutter button" from the default "Record Video" to "Take burst Photo". You can take burst Photos at any zoom range but you can probably imagine how bad the photo quality gets when you start cropping even further.

I noticed that your results with the Oppo in low light, when the zoom is 6x or higher, are using the 3x camera, and this shouldn't happen, and only happens when you leave the "macro" mode activated on the Oppo... to avoid this, just get close to something and when the macro symbol appears on the screen, click on it and leave it deactivated, then you can use photos in low light without having to worry about this "BUG" of the device doing the automatic lens change.

But there is literally no mention of this on this screen, or anywhere else, + if it is a bug, it is not an end user concern, but oppos department, they should fix this, but not we as a buyers and users. + I have noticed that f4.3 struggles even in daylight in stress hard situations with hdr and shadows, so I won't surprise if it struggles in low light. You can make a video comparsion and show this results my friend, how are they a lot different.

x200 Pro i am sure will be global. CN version will arrive 5-7 november, will make atleast 3 videos with it as well as street photo. If you change your X it will be so huge jump. I tested 13 pro vs 11 pro vs 12 pro vs 14 pro and 15 pro (it was my friends units, i could not borrow it for more than couple of minutes) and i found the most noticeable jump was 13 pro, but not like mind blowing, and 14 pro and 15 pro was almost identical, may be extreme no light was slightly better on 15 pro, but otherwise the same and in some cases i loved 13 pro more than 15 pro for contrast levels. i have not tried 16 pro yet, because in the small caucasian country where i stay right now 16 pro is around 2.000$ and 16 pro max 2500$-3000$, do not want to spend that much right now, especially after seeing some feedback from iphone users that it is at best the same and in some cases they claim it to be worse.

@@AlienTechnologies33 if you believe that the X200 will be global, I’ll put my trust in your assessment and wait for that :) Thanks for the long and thorough reply, I think the Vivo will be perfect, I’ve had my iPhone X since launch back in 2017, but as long as I’ve had it I’ve kind of been missing my ancient Huawei Honor 7, which says a lot about the Asian phone market’s superiority in both quality and color science. I think the Vivo software will be good, the camera will probably be even better than the X100 (I know it doesn’t have the 1 inch sensor, but I’m keeping faith that we’ll get an Ultra and that it’s being saved for that). The only real drawback of switching to a Vivo would be that I’d have to deal with all the compression stuff between Android devices and iPhones + the whole thing with the quality when taking photos or video in social media apps (normally it’s not a problem to just import photos taken with the regular camera app, but on Snapchat it’s a hassle to do that). Anyway, yeah, if a global Ultra-version of the X200 with a 1 inch sensor gets released for a reasonable price, I’ll be a very happy Norwegian fella (and I’ll also maybe get to sell my Fujifilm X-S10)

But on Color OS I could not make galaxy watch 4 classic to work, and there is no android auto, no aod notifications because of some China laws or whatever. I think that that is all about downsides. Hi again! I am beyond grateful for the video you made and the other videos as well. Today I made a decision and changed my xperia 1 VI phone to Xiaomi 14 Ultra, it was the only best phone I could change from my phone carrier, Xiaomi is arriving on October 1st. The Xperia just didn't meet my needs. I was sick in the meantime, and this video was so good and educational and just nice to watch and listen to. You must have walked around your home now in a strong walking path, because it has been a very big job for you, comparing cameras, you have a wonderful video. The night videos are wonderful, the sounds of Nature, the fire, I live in the country myself and enjoy Nature and its sounds to the fullest, and we have tree stumps and branches waiting for the fire place, let's see when my husband and I will light it. At the summer solstice last year, we had such a bonfire as you can see in the picture behind my name. The Dij pocket camera is probably one of the best in your comparisons. I had a galaxy s24 ultra before the xperia, it has a terrible camera and still haven't fixed it, my beautiful oak floor and walls were always yellow and so blurry, almost all pictures from this camera are yellow tinted and very noisy, bland no matter how I try this camera was also not set up, fake colors and poor quality. The colors on the Xperia are true and beautiful, but the pictures are sharp only in sunlight, at other times the camera is very weak and it's a terrible shame. Pixel is not my taste and it costs a lot in Estonia, 512gb is 1500 eur. Vivo probably has the best camera, but it's difficult to get it in Estonia, because I needed to change the Xperia 1 VI around so that it wouldn't end up in my desk drawer. I also like Oppo, but Oppo is the same as Vivo, more difficult to get. Thank you again for the video! 🌻

Congratulations on your purchase, Xiaomi is a very nice phone also. I am a big Sony fan, but price to performance is not there for me unfortunately. @@skyunn Hi! I am a woman! And xiaomi 14 ultra is very high quality. The camera is wonderful, most of the photos are of high quality. The battery is quite durable, but I also close most of the background apps on my phone and I don't like to use the always-on screen. The video quality on the camera is quite good. I haven't used the camera in the dark yet. But indoors in dim light, it consistently takes high-quality photos. The screen is very good. I found that on this phone the refresh rate of the You tub app is up to 60 Hz and won't go higher, with all other apps and when using the phone it adaptively moves between 10-120 Hz, for some reason I can't watch You tub at 120 Hz and I don't know why, even then it is it's only on 60 Hz, when I quickly scroll back and forth, the you tube app stops at 60 Hz and doesn't move above 60 Hz at all, the phone is in adaptive mode. If I compare the photos with my 14 pro max, most of the photos on Xiaomi are of very high quality, with character, with a fairly lifelike color range and better than on the iPhone. I always use both operating systems because I like to gain knowledge and experience using different operating systems. My xiaomi 14 ultra has not gotten hot, it gets hot when I use the camera, but it cools down quickly. Anyway, I'm very glad I bought the xiaomi 14 ultra, it's a quality camera phone, and the front camera is also quite good, and I can say that because I'm only used to quality.

I've only just started watching, but comparisons at 100% magnification must be made with identical lighting. That's missing here. I'm looking at a close-up of a face, an eye, and each photo has different lighting.

Hello my friend. Some of this photos in the beginning of the video are made in the exact same location in the exact same time of day, (I sold Samsung some time ago, it is simply impossible to do) but overall I will say that you can pretty much replicate this results each and every time, beside some colour shifts, overall contrast levels and level of details will be exactly the same no matter what you do, if you are not letting sun light directly hit the lens. But all photos in the main part of the video made in the exact same time with exact same lightning

I made tons and tons of testing with bunch of different phones and can 100% guaranty, that there will be zero to none drastic improvements, of course if you are not letting the sun hit the lens

Hey, have you tried the 48mp photo mode or the HDR video on the Sony? Just have to turn the exposure down some and everything looks pretty great IMHO. I really want to try the OPPO but its hard to have an only chinese version... Same thing with the Vivo x100 ultra

For occasional use, but I really wish they stop this bs with colors, sharpness, noise reduction etc. Just make interlaced computational dual ISO log and burn in luts in real time with smooth gyro stabe, with smooth exposure changes, zero sharpness added, and we are good to go 🤖 they buy out photography companies, but cant hire good videographer for consultation

@@AlienTechnologies33 I have to agree with you, but at least on my device I don't see any sharpening in the Xperia's HDR video or S Cinetone mode with Wide Dynamic range set to OFF. Otherwise you will get some sharpening. The HDR and S Cinetone seems to calm that down and the colors look so beautiful in HDR. (Finally my brown skin looks color accurate). I also like that it's one of the only phones you can change video recording color profiles WITHOUT dropping down to 1080p recording.

I heard that they are working on implementation of android auto in Ultra, but not confirmed yet. But I am personally was using custom infotainment system without android auto. And I am may be looking for a Chinese car in the future, I am blown away what they are doing in the car industry, it is even more crazier than on smartphones

@@santiagogladin5651 Very nice device, too overhyped by dxo mark in my opinion. And Honor replaced Oppo for my wife by the way (despite Oppo taking better photos in some situations, but it is multiple times just a better phone for everyday use) I sold Xiaomi and Oppo, decided to leave for myself a Huawei as a second device, to try and test it more, it is definitely worth checking, but not everything rose and rainbows 🛸 Vivo will stay as my main device, unless some triple foldable phone can beat it

Very helpful video. But it could have been made better if in the phone speaker test you would have added the sound of the original file, without a reference point the whole speaker comparison block was useless. Also the decision to add sony instead of samsung in the video was questionable, after all samsung is the most popular android phone by a wide margin and sony is a very niche product with one of the worst cameras on the market. Anyway, it would be cool to see in the next videos reviews of other aspects of the phones, such as battery drain tests, or comparison of operating system functionality in such detail.

✨Thank you for watching my friend. Will think about implementation in the future for sound. It is very hard to make this test, because room acoustics and microphone affect quality drastically, but when I listened to the results closely in post, I can say that it pretty much represents what I hear in reality, Oppo is noticeably louder, but have some dips in the mid-highs parts, while Vivo is quiter but I can hear them more clear on the "electronic music part", while iPhone 13 is holding well, but I hear some smearing on the loud parts, so it is hard to tell drastic differences, because finally all this phones have nice speakers inside. ✨As for the Sony, some Sony fans asked me to review it, and there were lots of comments that are legitimately asked for help, because they were going to sell Xiaomi 14 Ultra for Sony, and one even commented that he wants to buy it for the Macro capabilities and it was very important for him. As we can see on the Sony official site, they do not consider their phone to be bad and even directly market it as very strong with "Macro Telephoto Photography Boke machine"

In the Low Light RAW Computational test, could you force the vivo X100 ultra to use 50MP resolution SuperRAW instead of 12MP? I've heard that in low light, it always uses 12MP mode. And could we turn off noise reduction completely? I find it too aggressive for raw file.

@@mtp4804 in computational raw in low light it uses 4k image, to use 8k need to switch to standard raw. Also there is no way to turn off noise reduction, I still find results better than on other phones, but wish we can control it or turn it off. You need to use standard Raw to remove noise reduction. Not like i love to shoot raw on a smartphone, but this definitely can be improved. May be in the future, rolling shutter, computational artifacts. I feel like smartphone sensors are intentionally handy capped, restricted to artificially separate them from more expensive "pro" gear. In the world of multistacked backside illuminated sensors, ultra fast ram, dedicated ai chips, 3nm processors, it is just strange to have this level of performance for raw and fast moving subjects. P40 pro had very nice 960fps mode and interpolated ultra slow motion with multiple thousands fps... years later we barely get interpolated 960fps on pura 70 ultra...

So not possible to use external flash with trigger on Vivo ??? You can use Godox A1 ton control others external flashs, like AD200, with your smartphone (only iPhone with Profoto camera app)

@@yammy1337 yes, I use Vivo right now as personal device. I have some questions for it, like nothing is perfect, but good enough to counter my nitpickings. I just love the results, and love even the feeling of the OS. Also sound, in the mid-highs I can distinctly hear information in the music and sound

@@AlienTechnologies33 OS is really good, I would not have thought it, for me the first China phone. Each has advantages and disadvantages but I like it.I come from Pixel 8 Pro and I think it's a big jump. As you say, it looks more organic, like real photos that don't always look like they came from a smartphone.It's just that taking photos of people in strong sunlight is really difficult and I find that the skin burns out quickly. In this particular case, the Pixel in automatic mode does it a little better. But it's fun to watch with your idea. I'm excited to see the comparison with an iPhone 16 Pro...there are too many Apple fanboys or status phones for me.
