I would just like to say, that this game raises so many hopes for me. Hopes that perhaps one day, our world will not be the only one we can explore. There are many wonders of our world, and to see the procedurally generated terrain like this... it just inspires me. Thank you for providing me with this experience. To think that this game has so little features compared to what the final product will be? Id buy the game like this!

Beautiful. Even more interesting is the incredible engine you have working for this. My jaw actually dropped when those crags actually had real transition, not that cartoonish stuff that Maxis does in Spore. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

The surface seems to have been covered by massive glaciers that's only retreated very recently as can be seen through how jagged the landscape is.. Amazing how much detail went into this game.

this looks pretty damn sweet. one way to kick it up a notch though would be the ship started to heat up and glow red with maybe a ball of fire and a smoke trail when the ship enters the atmosphere, that would really make it seem like it matters that you just dropped out of orbit.

This is PRE alpha version and it has no loading screen, no stuttering, and it looks amazing! This looks very promising. The music reminds me of Mass Effect.

Actually can't describe the feeling i get from this video. It gives me the same feeling I had when I was a kid and I bought a new RPG game. Everytime i bought a new game when Iw as small I felt like this, like somehow the game would be massive and the adventures infinite. It will be infinite. It will be infinity.

make initial contact procedural, then have that saved into a database so you can return to that spot, or so friends can return to that spot later in time. this way an entire universe can be created - by the simple act of observation! hmmm.... makes you wonder.....

@UnknownXV Most of the stuff is rendered in real time on the client PC. The location of planets, mined asteroids, comets, and so forth will be stored server-side. The galaxy is randomly generated, but only generated once. The same algorithm is used, and the seed value is never changed so the location of celestial and player objects stays. Normal orbital mechanics and everything will be obeyed. When you fly away from a system and come back, the planet will only have shifted in its orbit.

It's such a shame this didn't get made sooner. This was possible years and years ago, being able to travel space in such a beautifully realised and compelling galaxy, it's a dream for people who don't even know it is yet, and to think we could have had this already quite a while ago. After all this time, we finally have something tangible that will give us that experience we all want, and that's a game called Elite: Dangerous.

Oh. my. god. Imagine this as the ultimate sandbox. You don't even need gameplay. Just have options to ski, parachute, mountain bike, fly, etc. around the infinite world. That would be amazing in and of itself. Just to experience life. To experience nature. There doesn't need to be convoluting gameplay that revolves around a few set areas. I just want to be able to walk around, jump, horseback ride, fly, through a world. Just like I would do in real life. No HUDs or gimmicks. Just raw life.

just by entering the atmosphere you worth your buy grab few hints from people, pack your stuff and find your sponsor and never let others tell you how to do it you got numbers

@mas92 I didn't mention anything about fps but a first person view option would be great. By waste what i meant to say is this game has so much potential to be the 'ultimate game' instead of being limited to only flying around and only a small number of developers are working on this project with a small budget. If you add things like air & ground combat system, ability to fly and drive vehicles, walk around, etc it would give this game a lot more immersion probably more than any game available.

I believe you can Exploration: Players are not restricted as to where they can explore. Land upon and explore every square centimeter of any solid stellar object you encounter discovering the oceans ridges craters and mountains dynamically generated by the Infinity engine, even active flora and fauna on biologically active planets. In addition to the more natural scenery, players can establish player-developed cities and interact within the numerous existing NPC cities
