"Oh cool in space with a picture of a planet in the background" *Flies closer to planet* "Oh cool but he forgot the astroids" *Astroids comes* "Astroids are much bigger" *Lands on astroid* "Well the planet is fake.." *Flies closer to planet* "Alright he got me there, but it's probably gonna render some bullshit and look stupid" *Skies begins to move* "Yeah but all on the planet is probably squarish" *Planet smooth* . . This game impressed me A LOT :oo Though I had everything figured out from the start xD

Someone help, i can't pick my jaw up off the floor. This was put out *four* years ago? Why don't we have anything close to this out now? Oh yeah that's right because most "gamers" are idiots that don't even demand groundbreaking innovation and just buy yearly rehashes of crap (COD). LOL I know this takes time to develop and release to the masses but damn I want something like this yesterday. I wish big developers around today would get behind this. I guess they're lazy or incompetent.
@DazzaKris10 жыл бұрын
Yea I knew about this a few years ago, and recently thought about it so I was like oh hey lets check it out I bet it looks more amazing. Nope. A kickstarter is happening soon so hopefully that means maybe in another 4 years time it will make more progress.

Honestly this is just UNBELIEVABLE! I imagined this type of thing way back in the xwing days with my 14 year old imagination. No idea 15 years later it would appear to be coming true. Outstanding achievements ... this could really bring about a new interest in space combat/exploration games.

Amazing, just amazing. I really wish that you could play this game in first person too, transport other players, interact with planetary elements and actually see your player, but I guess that's just too much to ask for from a single developer. At first I thought it looked quite alright, it had nice and realistic looking scenery. Then the ship approached the ring and as I started seeing all the particles being rendered, I was amazed. But that wasn't enough - then the ship entered the bloody atmosphere and that was simply.. Well I'm at a loss for words. Hadn't expected that kind of depth. Really amazing looking game. If this is released, it'd be a dream come true.

for some reason the thing that gets me excited the most isn't the beautiful graphics, but when he clicks stars in the back ground it's not just a prerendered backdrop; they are ACTUAL stars, that if he were to keep flying to them would eventually come into full view with their own solar system! Soo hott.
@EmperorJonTC13 жыл бұрын
I have followed the development of this engine for some years, and just decided to come back, see if there were any news updates, and watch this video again. One day, I'm sure, they will release it. Even if the project dies, you must remember the amount of time it's taken for them to make this. It would no doubt be passed on to somebody else. They wouldn't just throw it away.
@KlaresGedenken13 жыл бұрын
...The most awesome thing about this video is how he clicks the stars in the background and they acutally are STARS and not just pictures(as you can see in .2:35). meaning that you can fly to them .. daaamnit im gonna spend weeks on this once it comes out.

This is incredible. I hope the game adds more ticks of realism such as non-infinite fuel (albeit massively efficient), atmospheric physics (friction, gravity, etc.), planetary geology, and realistic vs. modified lighting in space, and slightly more realistic distances compensated by higher movement velocities.

Seeing this got me thinking,what if you got into battle,got destroyed and say you start floating in space in some kind off scafander. And someone would need to rescue you,like catch some sos signal,go check it out,and then find you.I went to check out their homepage, and saw that their are planning to make this feature. Mind blown.They are really putting their heart into this game. Such detail is really great for those who can appreciate it.Might be too much for a regular mainstream folk though.

@Kvokki i dont think outerra has anything to worry about. alterra and infinity are two really great engines that offer what the other does not. For example outerra's planet gen system is WAAAY more realistic/detailed than infinity since its working with actual terrain data, but infinity has multiple planets. gives the customer more flexibility to do what they are intending to do imo.

everything seems to look right to me, but I'm basing that on the fact that when supervolume objects that large are in view, we experience an element of perspective we never get to see. What you just saw is a close perspective on an object traveling very quickly through a space past very large objects that are way out of normal perspective.

Can you imagine if the planetary exploration and travel (not including relay travel. I did love the galaxy map and would say definitely keep it!) in the mass effect series was similar to this, PLUS THE STORYLINE?! Granted I'm fully aware of company time restrictions, hardware restrictions (including but not the least of which, storage space), and other issues. Regardless, it would be amazing. In addition to the story, being able to land on other planets and just poke around definitely hooked me.

I really hope this becomes more than a "you have a spaceship, go shoot stuff" kind of game. I think it would be extremely amazing if they used this engine to do several different games. Think Solar 2, but on a much larger, and more realistic scale. (Throwing around debris, making planets, stars, and even galaxies at will). Another neat thing they could do is make something sort of like the space stage on Spore, but not as empty and boring. The possibilities are endless.
