Great job. The thing I like most is there isn’t much room for another person, but I can take my dog with me. Peace and quiet at last.

Love your set up, very similar to my set up, I have a 12 foot Seamax Ocean which I modify with 2 free standing seats, big front cooler with rod holders (3 on one side and 2 the other side due to the lack of space). Put a newer fuel injected 20 horse mercury (the 15 and 20 hp weight only around 100 lbs, lightest in the market) on it and it easily go over 20 mph with 2 person and fishing gear. Full size Bimini, fish finder etc, Inflate/deflate for 2 years, finally give in and bought the smallest trailer and modify that to fit the inflatable, weight of boat plus full fishing and camping gear even included trailer less than 1000lb, very easy to tow, now 2 more days of enjoying fishing instead of packing and unpacking the set up, I am a late 60s senior so less work better, funny everything seems heavier the older I get, now I am seriously considering buying a second smaller inflatable boat no more than 10 foot with air floor and just go fishing a day or 2, the bigger set up is for trip 7 days or longer, I have a 2.3 hp air cool Honda outboard that I use as a kicker will be more than enough to push boat around. I grow up by the ocean so having a boat of any kind going camping is a must. I plan to get a cargo tray so I can haul the pack up boat and motor around behind the vehicle, I love modifying, like to share my ideas with others but never have the nerve yet to do a video, So I do enjoy watching others on utube Like to see you put out more videos relate to your boat and fishing outing with it, thanks

Thank you for sharing! I love the description of your boat setup! that sounds amazing and 20hp motor sounds so nice! But I definitely understand that the more you modify and more you put on the heavier it gets and takes longer time to setup and actually enjoy. I think I'm at a point where I"m trying to find that balance so it doesn't take a whole day to setup and still have enough time and energy to enjoy without stressing about packing up after :) I think for the purpose of what i'm trying to do, yes I don't think I'd make anything heavier for sure since I want to pack all in my prius and able to save as much storage room as I can, maybe I'll try to upgrade the motor with fuel injection since it's a pain to keep putting in gasoline in middle of your trip. But overall I love modifying too plus love fishing so i'll continue to find a way to make things better! Thank you so much for your support and I wish I continue hear from you on your journey as well. I'll continue to upload more videos too!

I'm going to be buying the exact same boat soon, was wondering if you could give me some advice. I will primarily be fishing with 2 people, both in rivers and back bays, is a 5 horsepower outboard enough power? I see you run a 3.5 but I'm concerned that with 2 people + gear it won't be enough to fight against current. I'm pretty big and tall guy so I know that is a factor.

this is a major flaw, when your left paddle is disengaged, i had issues with my motor in ocean where motor died on me, and would not start, you would have to paddle in, i see that your left paddle is not existen due to fish finder, you cannot trade your paddle for your transducer, trust me it is very dangerous, its dangerous when you're in ocean,

I get that you go out in the morning when it’s calm. And you could reach all the way to the wall. But what do you do when a big boat comes passing your way and makes a huge wake. It seems like it would be very scary. Because I take my bass boat out to Long Beach Harbor and I could barely handle the wakes.

How fast are you able to go with the motor and also how far out do you normally go, just asking because I’m planning on getting a dinghy the same size and figuring out the right motor is pretty hard
@Fishing_Fables
@Fishing_Fables Жыл бұрын
that can be tough for sure, i did upgrade my 3.5HP motor to 5HP by switching out the carburetor so it did increase the speed a bit, when I tested it out without any gears it went about 11 mph and with gears and another person, maybe around 7MPH. I do wish I invested a lil more to get higher HP around 10 or 15HP motor to get up to 15 or 20MPH but for my use, it does the job. I usually go out about 1-3 miles out and it takes me about 10-30 mins max. Motor isn't cheap too so not easy to invest but if you can, I'd go with the highest HP you can since it'll be much easier to handle with gasoline and if you get 12ft boat, it can handle 10-15HP motor easily as well.

yes, they’re actually is a very easy way. I have a boat similar to this I bought a couple of 9 foot NRS tiedown straps. You just make it into a giant loop and put it around the air floor before you inflated all the way and then you can use it to it hold things down to your floor or you can just attach things to the strap that’s going across your floor.

@Fishing_Fables
@Fishing_Fables 2 ай бұрын
nice getting a 16ft! I hope you're having fun with it, for 16ft, that should easily hold your weight for sure in my opinion. overall, I think saturn is great brand, the one i have is def more for just cruising around, it's not for the heavy duty fishing boat for sure, it wasn't made for that. I think if you spend 2000 or more, you're getting thicking heavier material that could endure more overall, also great performance wise. I think scratches wouldn't be too much of an issues but would be good to check for air leak using mixed water with soap and spray around so you can see if there is bubble forming.

Does the trolling motor ever get in your way? Was thinking about getting one but don't want to over crowd the transom.
@Fishing_Fables
@Fishing_Fables 10 ай бұрын
For the most part, it doesn’t get in the way since I can fold the steering handle down or put in position where outboard motors steering handle won’t hit it but if u happen to turn fast and trying to go in different direction quickly it can get in the way. For example if I want to reverse, I’d need to turn my motors 180 degree to steer, but I’d need to turn outboard motor the opposite way and fold the steering handle up to not hit the trolling motor. But then I’m almost never in situation I need to reverse or turn fast so it getting in the way isn’t the issue.
@Fishing_Fables
@Fishing_Fables 10 ай бұрын
So I have the outboard motor right in middle and trolling on the right side of it but u can move the outboard motor a lil to left to give them a lil more room between. I feel I’m able to now easily Tetris both so they don’t get in the way :)

The chair is a cheap one from Dick's sporting good, I put that chair on a piece of wood and then drill into the swivel that I drilled straight into the aluminum seat that came with the boat. I can give you more details if you want. I think if you want to just buy it, it's a little more expensive but def more comfortable :) let me know!
