Is your inspector there a …🦊 fox? ☺️Thanks for the inspo.

@_Ag- Ya 😅, that's a wild fox that came to investigate. Didn't even notice him walking up, just looked up and he was sitting watching me

@@MrBrnrdy Amazing! I’ve never seen a living fox (moving around, not a drawing or photo), and somehow I pictured them way smaller. Your helper looked coyote-sized with really long legs. So cool! Thanks for including your interactions in the vid. Made me smile. And your hot tub deck project came together so well. Hope you’ve been enjoying it out there! 🛁

Did you consider adding insulation, or are you in a warm climate? Nice project, it looks great!

I have considered adding insulation as an extra heat saver because we live in Ireland so not many warm days here. I think it could be a good way to save energy and heat, not sure what to use yet though

@9:46 Wife looks like she's over with it already. How did it work out? any issues with it rubbing against the wood sides?

😅😅. No issues with rubbing, once the tub is full and inflated, it doesn't move much. One fault is with having it elevated off the ground, I probably underestimated the sheer weight of the water when full. The plywood has dipped in between each frame slightly. It doesn't affect it much overall, but if I were to change something, I would reinforce the base. Of course, most people would probably be able to leave the tub on the ground and build the frame around it. I only elevated mine to take advantage of the extra space on top of the wall in our garden.

What was the deck base's final dimensions? Looking to make one for mine this weekend :)

Off the top of my head it was 2.5 metres × 2.5 metres (approx 8ft × 8ft). I checked what lengths the ship lap cladding came in and built the frame to a size that would maximise the cladding without any waste.

I used pressure treated timber which is specifically for outdoor use. I would recommend speaking to your supplier for best advice, I explained what I was planning to do and they recommend the best timber. The paneling I used is pressure treated ship lap, the timber frame is pressure treated 2 inch × 4 inch and timber decking boards for the floor. Underneath the hot tub is plywood sheeting, it needs to be thick and well supported to hold the weight of the water without flexing too much.
