Inflation is crushing our business, major changes are coming ...

Quilt Addicts Anonymous is going through some major changes over the next month as we respond to a drastic reduction in sales due to inflation.
Over the past year we've lost more than 300 subscribers to our Stashin' with Stephanie. The number one reason for cancelation was budgetary concerns due to inflation.
More than half of our revenue came from subscription club renewals and related sales of extra fabric and kits, so we are really hurting right now. Last month we only made half of what we needed just to make our costs to pay our staff and keep the lights on, so we are being forced to make some drastic changes.
My family has already made significant sacrifices in order to try to keep the business going through this tough time, including my husband working two jobs so we didn't have to pay ourselves from the business, and using our personal savings to cover our family expenses. But we've reached the point there we can't keep operating at a loss any longer.
Going forward Quilt Addicts Anonymous will just be a pattern design and e-learning company. There's still a lot of unanswered questions, but as of now, the KZbin Channel, Quilt Addicts Anonymous Academy, patterns and books will continue on.
We will be selling off all of our fabric, kits and notions. Our Stashin' with Stephanie subscribers will get first dibs on the 20% OFF sale. Current members will automatically get the sale prices when they are logged into their account. The sale will open up to all customers on Friday, September 1.
We are hoping to have all fabric gone by the end of the third week of September so we can get out of our office space and warehouse by the end of the month.

Inflation hits people a lot harder than a crashing stock or housing market as it directly affects people's cost of living that people immediately feel the impact of. It's not surprising negative market sentiment is so high now. We really need help to survive in this Economy.

Your best option if you are unfamiliar with the markets is to seek advice or help from a consultant or investing coach. I know it sounds simple or generic, but talking to a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and increase my portfolio to roughly 65% since January. For me, it's the best method to enter the market right now.

Every trip to a grocery store or fabric store is a shock at check-out. At 83 I am using more of my stash since inflation too. The only way to fight this is at the voting booth. I LOVE to sew & quilt until the day I can't sit in a chair. So, hang in there, better days are coming, they will just be different!!

When I was a teenager, my dad had to close our "mom & pop" grocery store as he was crowded out by the big supermarkets, so I know the pain of what you're going through. I've been watching you for years you're amazing and you'll find your way. I'm disabled I've watched thousands of quilting videos. Honestly..you lost my views when you focused on quilting machine quilting. People can't afford those things, you're looking at a handful of quilters. I feel your pain. I just found you! At 82 this is my prime occupation...sewing and making quilts! When I semi retired from office work I worked part time at our local Joanns store. Ladies would bring their quilts in to show us and my boss told me I could do it. A Triple IRish Chain was my first one. Sold it for $500 and I was hooked. I don't make many bed size anymore due to cost. I don't sell them anymore since Etsy went world wide on the market. Keep your chin up and hopefully things will turn around for you soon. Don't give up!!

As a retired business coach, I appreciate your situation and completely agree with your decision. Knowing your operating “numbers” is so vital when it comes to making informed decisions. Stay creative, find or create a new niche. Work smart, but don’t lose the joy of simply being creative, and teaching others to find that same joy and satisfaction in making a thing of beauty. Yep…inflation is hurting all of us. But sorry for your situation. It’s always difficult to give up something you love. But maybe you can come back to it one day. IMHO, a lot of “inflation” comes from some greedy businesses/corporate sellers taking advantage and raising their prices much more than they have to.
