I remember first seeing this type of structure along I-35 in Texas I think in the late '70's. Over the years I have wondered why they have not created other shapes. With the correct air pressure you could do more effective space utilization with squared designs. Pretty cool stuff regardless. Having watched those early designs in Texas age it seems water proofing becomes an issue at some point.

Can you build these nationwide? Years ago I helped do some work on dome structures on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I thought it was really neat.

Actually no. The Airform is a single ply roofing membrane and outer coating of the dome.

IIRC, they can _technically_ be peeled off, but it's really, really not recommended. Not good for the dome, not good for the airform.

Lots, construction work is between $60 - $100 sq ft.

Are these ‘balloons’ standard floor plans, or does each home have its own custom ‘balloons’ made for it? Or, is the process more of a hybrid… a standard set of offerings with the ability to build custom dwellings? My reason for asking has to do with pricing. A custom inflator floor plan would affect a higher overall finished price.

Almost everything we do is custom. You can increase the cost by adding complexity to the Airform. We do have a few set plans but 90% want custom.
