Good point.. the market has been crazy lately, a few surprises here and there.. with all the global happenings taking place I think it’s safe to say that a severe global recession is looming..

Oh yeah! You can definitely say that, it does worry me a bit, but not as much as it would worry the average guy, my investment portfolio has survived a couple of recessions unscathed, been privileged to be guided under the stewardship of an extremely gifted investment manager by the name Eric Paul Elmer

Please remove the music in the "summary" in the start. High inflation and high yields is not a problem in itself and yes you can do fine with 4-5% inflation. But the current pricing of assets are ZIRP based, they would have to be repriced. I think this issue was missed in the discussion.

Higher rates discourages investment in new supply, by making investment more expensive, encouraging industry consolidation, and decreasing demand. Eventually the lack of new supply and the consolidation shows up as inflation.

One thing to note if the market is efficient and you are a long tips short TLT You are not just long inflation rate you are short inflation risk premium that should be contained inside TLT

Yes in the 1950s when inflation got higher, the president told Congress they had to lower the deficit to control it. Now the president just tells congress to go ahead.. spend, spend, spend. And blame inflation on anything but the real cause... their spending.

The FED was never serious about bringing in the required medicine: deflation, not disinflation. Rates & QT are not restrictive enough, no mbs sales, etc. Inflation “higher for longer”. Where is my debt forgiveness and stimmy bro?😎🤦🏻🤡
@DatDadDru6 ай бұрын
So we stay at 5% inflation with rates at 5.25%? I don’t see how any of this is sustainable with government spending so high, I think we are not counting in the governments appetite for spending on not only entitlement programs but also military spending. The currency debasement rate vs how fast growth companies can accelerate seems improbable. We are screwed without austerity measures let’s be honest with ourselves.

The likely scenario is yield curve control it kinda saved Japan but if you look at the yen currency pair to different commodities it didn’t pan out well for them.

Are we seeing the US moving into a war economy? The government issues bonds to print money to spend on weapons, which means more dollars into production, which keeps the population employed. Helpfully higher inflation also reduces the long term cost of US government debt. It will also lead to more stealth taxes, leading to more inflation, reducing the actual value of government debt even further. :)
