Inflorescence | Tree ID

An inflorescence is a cluster of smaller flowers that are arranged in specific patterns; knowing the inflorescence type can help you identify a plant to a family. Compare to a single flower; this concept is similar to the simple vs. compound leaf.
As an arborist, you may remove or recommend removing of inflorescences in species like palms, which have the potential to get messy and/or dangerous. Knowing about inflorescences also sets you on the path to learning more taxonomy or ID.
