I cringe when I think of the way I behaved at 20. Many studies show that the brain doesn't fully mature until 25. This is not to excuse the behaviour in this video but just as a blanket statement, a 20 year old is generally not yet a fully functioning mature adult capable of making fantastic decisions.

Also Rita Ora was lying about the fact that she got tested when she arrived at Egypt. They don't do that here, they only check your temperature at Cairo Airport. Also in Egypt a small number of people are following the rules and wearing a mask properly so everyone basically has/had covid (like seriously we are giving the USA a run for their money) so I wouldn't be surprised if she actually caught covid and kept it a secret since people called her out.

Guidelines don't say that people can't meet up under any circumstances. That's only if you're so afraid and can't leave the house. You can still meet up every once in a while with friends or family as long as it's not too many people, you can still go on walks and exercise. The woman with cancer crying because she can't see her family is sad, maybe it's different where she lives but she can still go see family, I think maybe it's also fear that she'll contract covid. These influencers are doing too much but she can still meet family and be safe at the same time.

There are literally SO many children who support me which is why I need to be careful, because a lot of them tend to defend me because they "think I'm cool". For other tiktok stars who are FAR more famous than me to ignore that is dumb. We were extremely careful and I am still careful, keeping my kids at home and only going out for necessities. I HATE every person who flouts the guidelines or refuses to wear a mask. I want them to feel the grief and rage and helplessness that I do. I want them to be afraid of losing their home and worry about how the bills are going to get paid. Watching this nearly three years later is surreal. In the past few years, I lost an aunt and two cousins to Covid-19, and I couldn't attend funerals because of safety protocols. Everything is basically back to “normal” now, but just two weeks ago, AP reported that even mild Covid 19 infections are causing irreparable damage to the cardiovascular and respiratory systems that can go undetected until it’s too late. That makes what these influencers did during a time when there was little information about the disease, no vaccine, and no other form of treatment for symptoms even more egregious. Their careless disregard for the people around them is going to have a lasting impact that they don't realize. I hope the parties were worth it.

I’m so sick of the classic “I’m a human” bs excuse. They were 100% aware of their impact and the danger but just DON’T care. I’d rather them come out with a 15 second video simply saying “I’m selfish and don’t care” instead of a 20 minute video of them crying and saying they “make mistakes”. I’d have more respect for them if they’d come out that way. I hope one day society as a whole can move past the need for “influencers”.

EXACTLY. yes, you’re human - but that isn’t an excuse to put actual literal lives in danger, because you just can’t imagine anything beyond yourself. everyone else watching is human too, but they don’t go around doing the things “influencers” do, now do they? mistakes exist and it’s good to learn from them but sometimes it’s just so blatantly obvious that they genuinely don’t care.

I know this was 8 months ago, but I wanna say something. When you look at how many people have died of COVID, how many people have been affected by COVID, it's just a number. You look at it, feel bad, maybe worried, and you go on with your day. It might come up in your mind a few times, but it's just a number. A number. It doesn't feel... heavy. Now think about _your_ life. Think about how complex it is. The emotions you experience. The memories you have. The affect that you have on the people you know. The people you love. What you've done. The memories you've given people. The good, and the bad. The fun, the sad. The love, the hate. The excitement. Everything. Now, you aren't the only person like this, with this complex of a life. _Everyone_ has a complex life. They all have an affect on the world. A life with as much emotion, memories, happiness, sadness, love, hate, excitement, and more as yours. And hundreds of thousands of them just... died. Suffered. Gone. Taken from us too early. Imagine if someone you loved died. That's what their family members, friends, and loved ones experienced. That number doesn't really feel like just a number anymore, does it? And these people Don't Fucking Care I. Am. D o n e.

I watched this a while ago, but I figured I'd share my story. My dad still had to go in person for his work, while my mom was able to work from home. My parents are divorced, but he lived with his 90-year-old mom (my grandmother) and we decided it was best if he stayed with me, my brother, and myself for the time being. The reason for this was because if she caught it, it would be over for her, she had too many dispositions for her to be safe for him to live there anymore. One day, my dad had symptoms of COVID, so he went to get tested, and he tested positive. It was scary because at the time I was still in school and couldn't afford to get sick and not be able to participate in school for 2 weeks. A few days later, my mom started experiencing symptoms and went to get tested, but it was negative. After a while of her sickness getting worse, she went to get retested and tested positive. They didn't offer tests for non-high-risk people at the time, but when my brother and I lost our sense of taste and smell, we knew we had it too. I have old parents, they're in their 60s. I was 15 at the time, and I was terrified of my brother and myself becoming orphans. My brother and I didn't get as sick (we could still get out of bed and stuff) so we had to take care of our parents for two weeks. I had basically no experience in cooking, and my brother had even less. We were basically living off microwavable meals and food cooked by family and friends, who left these items at the front door for us. Easily the most stressful and panic-inducing 2 weeks of my life. It got so bad that my mom felt she couldn't breathe and she had to drive herself to the hospital because nobody else could. Thank fuck because both of them ended up serving, but my dad still has breathing problems to this day because of COVID, and they might not ever go away. I also have breathing problems (not as bad as my dad) because of it, and I'm only 16! Hopefully they go away, I'm counting on my youth for that one, and my whole family was able to recover their sense of taste and smell as well. I realize I'm so lucky that my situation ended up as it did, and my heart goes out to the people that have had loved ones pass because of this pandemic.

Rewatching this again and every time I hit the end, I have tears. My parents were working in a hospital as housekeeping when all of this happened, both immunocompromised. I started in retail basically the moment stores opened back up for work because we needed the money. Witnessing the absolute recklessness of people around me was *appalling* to say the least. My godmother contracted COVID and was in the hospital before being discharged with an oxygen tank, and this woman still wouldn't wear a mask and kept believing conspiracy theories. She still has symptoms of long COVID, but I am thankful that her grandchildren didn't contract the disease. I work in a hospital myself now doing various tasks, and even as recently as December, we got red zoned because of the number of cases in the area. This whole situation really just showed us a whole new side of people, and the worst part is it seems to have been largely forgotten, as if it were just another blip of internet drama. Real people got really hurt by these people's actions, and it just got brushed under the rug. It's... Frustrating.

This is sad, but what I’m getting is - “If you’re middle class to poor, stay home! It’s easy!” Which, in theory, it is easy! Most people are broke as fuck right now and can’t even /consider/ traveling somewhere even if they wanted to. Yet if you’re a celebrity you’re somehow entitled to... be a dickhead? Gross.

The name of this injustice is: Capitalism. That is why things are so warped & unfair. It puts money, profit above human rights. It puts a price on human rights. 😭 If we had an economic system that valued human rights & societal progress over capital(money), then those who need food, water, safety from the virus, healthcare & education would be provided it. We have the resources to provide this. Those in power just want you to think we don't. Even under capitalism, we have our tax dollars which should provide for us during this pandemic especially. But our tax dollars are being looted by the ruling class, for bailouts when they fail(especially in the stock market), by corrupt billion dollar defense contractors, etc. That is OUR money. The ruling class(aka the bourgeoisie - CEOs, billionaires from inheritance) take the fruit of our labor(in the form of profit). The workplace should be fairly, democratically structured. The working class produces & works hard for that money. The ruling class doesn't have to work; *they* are the "parasites". 😟 Not us. We do *not* live in a meritocracy, or else the working class, who works the hardest, would never be poor. 💯

I'm in 1st year, so I don't really mind staying at home, but my fellow classmates that are in 3rd-7th year have to give up going to hospitals and learning over there because our university won't expose them to such danger. We can learn with our books and online classes, but it isn't the same. Only God knows when we are going to return to "normal", I only hope that the people around me make it through, even if I don't.

Two years out, I like sane humans kept following guidelines got vacced and all that. However due to careless behavior from a single person in my home that utterly refused to wear a mask, and still does, my entire home came down with it. I isolated myself, the person that gave it to all of us kept going to work. Over a year after that I still suffer from symptoms of long covid, my lungs work worse and my cognitive function has been notably impaired. Fortunately no one in my home died but I think it is telling that a household that was going above and beyond the guidelines were comprised by a single dumbass that pretended nothing was happening.

“we’re getting tested everyday”, is not an excuse!! Standard testing isn’t 100% accurate, let alone rapid tests. Even if it was accurate, one could have been exposed without knowing and be a carrier for several days before testing positive or showing symptoms. It’s just so stupid, taking all these precautions for what??Are they waiting to get Covid or something? I saw this model on Instagram who had the privilege of knowing she had been exposed and therefore went into quarantine, but didn’t see Covid symptoms until day 12!!! Unfortunately she had been ignorant thinking that masks and regularly testing was enough. Even James Charles caught a cold (which is contagious) around Christmas time. Like babe... I’m glad it wasn’t worse than that but you obviously haven’t been careful enough. No one could ever be. That’s why social distancing is the best you can do. It’s honestly mind-blowing that so many people still don’t understand how illness is spread especially after we’ve entered a pandemic.

My family and I lost someone. My aunt lost her boyfriend. He caught it and died three days later. Not only that but my aunt has autoimmune issues, putting her at risk. Even though it was dangerous and she did get a reaction because of her autoimmune disease she got fully vaccinated. Because her boyfriend died several months before it came out and she figured the risk of the vaccine reacting with her disease was far less than the risk of Covid. She's not the only one at risk. I have asthma. My roommate has breathing issues as well. My mother is in her 60's and has diabetes. My father is in his 60's with diabetes, only 1 working lung AND COPD. Everyone I love, including myself are at risk. And whenever I hear these people say "It only kills 1%. It only kills the old and the sick. Who cares?" Tom was that 1%. If anyone one of us get it, I could lose EVERYONE I LOVE. And the fact that I can lose my entire family and all these people wouldn't care because "they're old or disabled"....it hurts more than I can say. To go to church, wearing a mask, being fully vaccinated and distancing from everyone only to hear someone get up and give a talk about how they were sad because their kid ALMOST didn't get to go to a concert because she's antivax and nearly didn't get the results back in time to go when we fucking buried someone. Everyone in my family is vaccinated. After we heard that lady talk, we told the bishop at our church that NOBODY is allowed to come to our home or drop off anything for us AT ALL unless they're fully vaccinated. Even then, I carry sanitizer with me everywhere. I get in my car after shopping, I sanitize. I get home from work, I immediately wash my hands. I go on break to eat lunch I wash my hands first. Every time I touch a door handle or fill out paperwork at the doctor for my family, I sanitize. If I feel any kind of sick I am extra careful when caring for my dad. He's disabled and like I said diabetic, in his 60's, with only 1 working lung, but he's also a former paraplegic. He couldn't move his legs at all and was in a wheelchair. After a surgery where they took his ribs out and put in a metal cage, they did something, and he could walk again. They have no idea what they did but they don't want to risk undoing it by going back in so they said just be grateful for the miracle and after years of physical therapy, he can walk again. Not very well. He still needs a cane around the house and going into the doctor's office and if he needs to go to the store he uses his chair to go while I'm at work or if I take him he uses their electric scooters. While we are grateful he can walk again, his mobility isn't good and he needs a lot of help. I help him get dressed, shower, tuck him into bed, I give him all of his medication cause of his memory issues. So if I get sick, it puts him in serious danger because he can't take care of himself and insurance won't approve a daily nurse to care for him. So when I get sick, I wear a mask at home, wash my hands before and after giving him his meds and keep my distance when I can to protect him. We do so much to stay safe and thankfully, so far, apart from my aunt's boyfriend, nobody else has gotten it. And the fact that there are people who just straight up don't care at all about putting us at risk and killing me and my entire family....it really fucking hurts. I've lost respect for so many people during this pandemic. I thought people at church would care and then that lady got up and started crying because her daughter was almost inconvenienced. Her daughter got to go to the concert. And she was crying because she ALMOST didn't get to while people are fucking dying from this. The absolute selfishness to be so self centered about an inconvenience of nearly not going to a concert when my entire family is taking every precaution possible. Tom was my dad's only other friend left besides our roommate and now he's gone. My mom only gets to see my aunt, she can't go hang out with her knitting buddies anymore cause it's too dangerous. But that lady's daughter got to go to a concert but almost didn't get to because her mother is antivax. Boohoo. Fucking sobbing dramatically over an inconvenience like that. Oh my god. She almost had to suffer the consequences of her actions, it's so sad. This pandemic has sadly shown how much people just don't care about others at all. It really eats at you.

I do truly hate how ~influencers~ have convinced themselves that they’re the only ones who work hard and struggle lmao...we’ve gone from “KZbin/insta/whatever can be tiring sometimes” to “none of you single mothers of 3 who work 2 soulless 9 to 5 jobs on minimum wage and scrape by just to survive understand how hard it is to make 5 second videos a few times a week”

Very stupid thing for him to say. "We need to disconnect" then leave the fucking internet. I am considered an essential worker and work in a pharmacy, all of us want a fucking break. ALL OF US. But we cannot simply disconnect and decide not to go into work one day. Pissed me off so much

Right? I hear all trade workers rolling their eyes collectively. You haul lumber and tools up to a top floor and balance on rafters and do it for 8 hours 5 days a week and tell me who needs a break.

If TikTokers wanna “disconnect” LITERALLY all they have to do it close out of their social media apps LIKE THATS IT

Exactly, they complain that “the pandemic has been so hard for my mental health” “i need to disconnect” but the ONLY thing they do is travel and post on social media. Bunch of clowns. They will keep on pulling this sht until something bad happens to them or their loved ones. I have been almost a year in quarantine, I live alone and I suffer from depression. It’s been so freaking hard but I will never take that as an excuse to endanger others’ lives. F that.

Thing is we can change the millions of followers part of that ... the talent part not so much The only way they’ll care is if it impacts them financially common knowledge sponsorship is based of followers and engagement so unfollowing = wage cut

I feel like everyone should go on a “influencer-19” strike and stop watching their content and unfollow them because they are after all profiting off the people watching them. Thats literally the only way they would learn anything, since the governors not going to fine them fairly, we should.

@@EllyFLuft I know because I use to be one of those fans, but after watching this I’m disgusted that I even watched their videos or commented on them. I feel like even young fans that watch this video tho, would realize that these people aren’t entitled to anything and need a reality check. That this behavior is costing lives.

When he was talking about how traumatic it was to almost lose his grandparents that really got me. It reminded me of when my grandmother got cancer and for years we didn't know whether the treatments would work (shes fine now). Its disgusting that anyone would decide its okay to potentially put others in the situation where they almost lose a loved one just so they can have a bit of fun. I really feel for D'Angelo and anyone that almost lost or lost a loved one to covid.

get mad. the divide between the exorbitantly rich and the working class has become a chasm. What separates the everyday person from these influencers is no longer just wealth and a luxurious lifestyle, it has become the ability to survive. they're watching us risk our lives to try to eat and pay rent while they sip cocktails on yachts. and they don't even have the restraint to not post it on social media.

It's been interesting watching in real time the increasing number of people going from "These rich people are so quirky and glamorous!" to "eat the rich" in the span of a year Which is probably the only good thing that will come of this mess.
