SHA - I am so glad that you are out there for us to learn from. I found InfluxDB and Grafana from another youtuber but when I found your description and installation instructions I decided to give it a try. I am at &:55 right now and I am going to let the database get some data before moving on, but everything looks great. I like the fact that I can coordinate sensors in a graph by time. I want to measure several temperatures and events and plot them together to give my HVAC tech to make sure my system is functioning correctly. I am a retired computer programmer, but this has been such a great instruction got it working. Now after I have data over 12 hours I will see what I can do. I have a Davis Weather Station and have an integration on it so I want to see what I can do. Thank You very much. I am running a Home Assistant Yellow with an 968 gig SSD on it. I think I should have plenty of room for a while. Thank you again and keep the videos coming you do a great job.

Thanks Raymond, thats a great story and I do this for the feedback and helping others. Enjoy your new data and the many hours of great graphing you have ahead of you. :)

Thank you so much 😀 It takes abit more time to do it this way, but I hate finding a video that skips over important steps, so I'm going to carry on doing it this way.

Glad I could help. Its a great db, and if you know SQL its all just makes sense :) OK I'll see what I can do about Grafana, its an even larger topic as there is so many permutations.

Good pacing. Thanks for not wasting my time!

I appreciate you noticing the pace - I aim to keep things to the point! but provide enough information to enable the average user to follow along. Too often, steps are rushed or skipped over which I remember frustrated me !

Another great video. Thanks for the suggestion. Question: At around 9:35 you hover over the datapoint and it displays the value at that location. The value for me has been rounded to 1 decimal place. I want 2. Can I change that? I know that when the data comes into HA I have 2 decimal places. Not sure where in the process it got rounded.
@smart_home_australia2 ай бұрын
Sure can, in Grafana, you can adjust the decimal precision in the panel settings: - Edit the panel you want to modify - Go to the "Standard options" section - Look for the "Decimals" setting - Set it to 2 to display 2 decimal places This setting controls how many decimal places are shown in the visualization.

This is good tutorial. I wish Grafana is more phone friendly though.

I've not used Grafana on a mobile extensively, but thanks for pointing this out, I'll have a look.

Thanks for letting us know, I'm new to Influx but have 100 sensors+ running and was unsure how the DB would grow. How many sensors are you recording against?
