Thank you for addressing this. I am not arguing, just asking for clarification. I know you addressed the "ben" being "sons" in this case (tzitzit), but is it not the same wording that is used in Leviticus 11 concerning the dietary laws? If so, I don't understand how a husband or father could be a woman's covering, otherwise women wouldn't have to follow Leviticus 11. I am open to correction. :) Again, thank you. Numbers 15:38 "Speak דַּבֵּ֞ר (dab·ber) 1696: to speak a prim. root to the sons בְּנֵ֤י (be·nei) 1121: son a prim. root of Israel, יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (yis·ra·'el) 3478: "God strives," Numbers 11:2 Speak דַּבְּר֛וּ (dab·be·ru) 1696: to speak a prim. root to the sons בְּנֵ֥י (be·nei) 1121: son a prim. root of Israel, יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (yis·ra·'el) 3478: "God strives,"

Great question. As Rabbi Steve has explained it in this video, the men were responsible with leading their households as part of the Creator's design and so a covering does not imply a shifting of complete individual accountability and a proxy for one’s actions (“My husband is eating clean therefore I don’t have to...”), but rather a covering is responsible for making sure to do the actions based in Torah - which in this case of tzitziyot, is remembering all the commands of the Almighty and not going after our own eyes and heart.

Excellent point. You cant have it both ways. This generic term should include both sexes. This requires a proper answer from Steve.

But the commandment says the children of..... are the ladies not included in that term? Just wondering.
@mtoi5 жыл бұрын
Rabbi Steve briefly explains in this video that the women are included in that term in the sense of being covered by the men. (Think of how in many languages, a group of 1 man and 99 women is still described as a masculine term).
@IamOpenMindedRU5 жыл бұрын
@@mtoi seems like a cop out because if it was just meant for males it could have been written "the sons" rather than "the children" seems with this commandment that rather than just follow as it is clearly stated most just follow "big brother". Thank you for your reply. Have a great day.

Rabbi some people say we must "make" our own tzitzit to properly fulfill the commandment. What do you think?
@mtoi5 жыл бұрын
You're definitely welcome to make your own, we have a tzitzit workshop here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZebdGx_h954eMk

They say that because if you read the commandment it says to "make". 38 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and you shall say to them to make tzitziyot 1 on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue cord in the tzitzit 1 of the corners. 39 “And it shall be to you for a tzitzit, and you shall see it, and shall remember all the commands of יהוה and shall do them, and not search after your own heart and your own eyes after which you went whoring, 40 so that you remember, and shall do all My commands, and be set-apart unto your Elohim. Its important for anyone not covered to make it priority to seek out a VETTED anointed appointed teacher/leadership to be their covering.

Messianic Torah Observant Israel Thank you for your response! If I may ask another question? If I consider MTOI my anointed and appointed teacher, (which I do 🙏🏼) is this acceptable over the internet? There isn’t a Rabbi close to me in proximity and I watch y’all every week throughout the week. I’ve done this for a year+. I’m nowhere close to finishing all the teachings but I am whittling the older lessons down every week. Some, most, I’ve needed to re-watch.
