@@WomenLivingTorah I wore those tzitzits for a year, and just made a pattern based off of yours that uses the paleo hebrew to wear this year. I absolutely loved having His Name on my person all the time - it was a great reminder that nothing can take me out of His hand, and that I can lean on Him in every moment on top of keeping me on the narrow path. Such a blessing! Praise Yah! Thank you so much for sharing this sister. Much love to you, and Shabbat shalom 💙

Ps - I also wear a ring on my left pointer finger. It was my great grandmother's wedding band that my grandmother passed on to me when I got engaged last year. Is yours a family heirloom as well? Just curious 💙
@WomenLivingTorah4 ай бұрын
So cool to hear about the pattern you made!!! ❤️ My ring is not a family heirloom. I was raised in a family that believed jewelry, including wedding rings, were sinful. My husband and I exchanged rings after seven years of marriage, and when I chose mine, I loved its vintage look. So it makes me happy to hear that it looks like it was passed down to me, haha! 😃 I’ve never met anyone else that wears theirs on their index finger, too. Why do you use the index finger?
@AimeeHope894 ай бұрын
@@WomenLivingTorah that's so sweet! It does look vintage! 💙 I just put it on my index finger because my ring finger was already taken by the ring my fiance gave me (and my index fingers are kinda chunky, and that's the only place it won't fly off) 😅

To locate the first strand in Hey you can create a small loop in it while creating knot 5. When you make knot 6, just tug strands until you find the one that pulls the loop tight and move it out of the way. Did that make sense?

Oh one more thing, there was something about a ribband 🎗 of blue,well actually violet because the tabernacle curtains were made with blue,purple,and red,so if you join all three colors you get violet . That was interesting

We buy our cord on Amazon. I put a link to the exact cord I use in this video in the description box. 😊 Not too badly affected- more nerves and sweat as we sheltered in place during our tornado warnings. The tornado near us passed us by 12 miles!! We could see its lightening in the distance. 😰 We are grateful our family and home are safe, but I know many other communities are devastated, so my prayers go out for them!! 🙏

When I braided the loop for attaching nothing lined up anymore. I'm not sure what I did wrong?
@WomenLivingTorah8 ай бұрын
My guess would be that you started braiding from the exact center, which would make one side of the strands longer. If you plan to make your braided loop two inches long, try braiding one inch up from the exact center. That way, when you braid two complete inches and bring them together, both sides of strands are about the same.

Thank you for this, I'm excited to be able to make my own! After reading the Torah the Lord really put it on my heart to be obidient to it despite all the teachings out there saying it's no longer relevant. I was reading about the purification laws and I don't really understand how to keep them, or are they not possible right now since there is no temple? I'm expecting my first child and I'm just not sure what to do after I give birth to become clean, if you have some wise counsel for me on that I'll greatly appreciate it, thank you sister 🙏
@WomenLivingTorah2 жыл бұрын
We can’t give a sacrifice at the temple for purification after childbirth, so technically we are not able to be ‘clean’ after childbirth. However, I have in ‘memorial’ tried to reduce my involvement in community obligations, etc during the number of days specified in Lev 12 according to the sex of the baby because limited social interactions and obligations would be one effect of not being able to go to the temple & of being unclean. I did this with my last baby, and it was such a blessing!! I was able to focus on my little one(s), bonding with the new baby, and adjusting life to a third child in our home without feeling pressure to write a children’s lesson for Sabbath or attend this event or that. 😊 Other than that, Lev 15 describes that man and wife are to mikveh after intimacy together, which does not require a temple and can be done. Traditionally, this has been a ‘pool’ of living water (water that has a flow in and a flow out) that one would submerge themselves in. Given we don’t have a community standard of what is considered sufficient for ‘clean’ and ‘unclean,’ (because it is a community matter), I think there’s enough liberty in Torah to decide how mikveh will look in your own home. Personally, my husband and I shower. (Not to be clean physically, but ritually.) I know this would NOT be accepted in Judaism, but they wouldn’t allow a non-Jew into their mikveh, and again, as a community, we do not have a standard. So I do believe what we’re doing is acceptable in YHVH’s eyes regarding mikveh. And in Lev 15 we also read about a women who is unclean due to her menstrual cycle. In the text itself, it seems her unclean-ness just ‘expires’ with her cycle and only a man or another person needs to mikveh in certain situations if they come in contact with her seat/bed, etc. That being said, there is a prophet who mentions mikveh in relation to a woman after her cycle. Can’t remember the text at the moment. For that reason and the fact that Judaism considers mikveh necessary after the cycle (or for any clean/unclean matter), I go ahead and mikveh then too. Again, doesn’t require the temple. Hope that makes sense! 😊

Tzitzis mist be tied with strings specifically made and soun for the mitzvah of tzitzis Tzitzis are tied directly to four cornered garments and are only fulfilling of the mitzvah if they are tied to four cornered garments. As nice as your idea is, this does not fulfill the mitzvah of tzitzis

I want to share a video for you to watch,its called Babylonian tassels vs Royal isrealite fringes, it exposes tassel wearing and speaks of the biblical fringe as a hem,that raw textile was loosely woven so if you didn't hem it it could unravel easily. It explains why the Hebrews are shown to wear fringe garments, and i can vouch that his understanding is not completely wrong, because as someone who was arrested once and went to jail as a prisoner you aren't allowed to wear your own clothes you must wear prison garments, even in jail, i spent only 4 hrs,and it wasn't pleasant. Hitler also removed from ghem their clothing and gave them garments of shame as i call them, so there really isn't anything new under the sun, even the asians would remove the outer garments of a prisoner leaving only their inner white garments,which was like being in underwear for us today. Imagine the embarrassment. I.e garments of shame.

Wow! That's a beautiful way to actually see the letters in the tzitzit instead of just using the gamatria. I like this, but I think that I will only use your method for one of my tzitziot, for the other three I will just use the 10-5-6-5 helical loop knots. Additionally I use the metal clips so that I can just attach the tzitzit to my belt loops because I don't wear a talit every day, but I always have pants or shorts on. Thank you for sharing your beautiful method.

When you make the shorter ones, without the big knots between each letter, how many more knots/stitches with the blue do you make between the end of one letter and the beginning of the next -- between the Yod and the first Hey, and between the Hey and the Vav? Thank you! Great tutorial!!
@WomenLivingTorah Жыл бұрын
Hey! Great question! Each letter is always 12 knots. So follow the pattern for Yod, and then when you make that 12th knot, start over at 1 for Hey. When you finish the 12th knot on Hey, start over at 1 following the pattern for Vav. Etc… so you’re following the pattern exactly as shown, but just omitting the large knot after each 12th knot.

These are so beautiful! And your tutorial is so well done-- thank you!! I'm having some hesitation about putting Yah's personal name on the tzit tzit in case I was to accidentally sit on it, or get it dirty, or one fell on the floor, etc. I have heard from someone who is Messianic that things the Name is printed on have to be treated with utmost care. Would love your thoughts on that? I know that the heart of that is wanting to respect the Name but also it led to removal of that precious Name from the Word. I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to avoid all that by putting Yeshua's name? But even that is so precious too..... I don't know. I could be overthinking it. Would welcome your thoughts.
@WomenLivingTorah2 жыл бұрын
I’ve thought about this also, and (obviously), I am okay with using His Name on the tzitzit. I think it really comes down to personal conviction. We do take the upmost care of our tzitzit, although, things sometimes happen beyond our control, such as a sheep eating one of my husband’s tzitzit. But, I would equate it to having had my Bible out (with God’s Name) on the chair, and the dog completely shredding it. Would it have been better to not have the Bible with His Name? In my humble opinion, having His Name preserved in the Word is the greater issue. I do my best to care for these special gifts from the Father, and I do my best to respect His Name and His character through that care. But- yes- things can happen, so everyone has to decide for themselves what they’re comfortable with. I have a friend that saves every paper that she writes His Name on, and then those who won’t write His Name at all. And still others who do respect YHVH, but haven’t even considered this point…. I don’t have any Scripture to say ‘this is the way it absolutely has to be,’ so I leave it to personal liberty and conviction by the Spirit! 😊

Embroidery floss does make a thinner tzitzit, but thick or thin is really preference. Also- just to be clear- embroidery floss tends to come with several threads all together. Instead of pulling each thread separately from each other, keep all threads together, and count that as one strand. Hope that helps! 😊
