I've always thought that an INFP must develop Te to carry out concrete things in the world, and be more productive, as I think we can become very lazy when we enter in the Fi-Si mode. For me, Ne is a trap where you imagine yourself (and the world around you) becoming so different than it really is, and after doing that, you realize that you did nothing concrete, and that your dreams are so far from reality. So I think the real healthy way to get out of the Fi-Si mode, is to use Ne with Te, by planning, executing concrete actions with Te, in a project that reveals all the potential of creativity that your Ne provides you. So creative writing is a good idea, and all the creative projects (if possible with people) can be used for that, as long as it's made in the context of a short or long term goal. For me it's really important to add the notion of time management, and efficiency that Te can provides.

Te is good but it's exhausting, it takes a lot of energy. To get out of a rut, I think it's better to rely on Ne, that's easier to use for us, then use Te to act on whatever Ne came out with, rather than just trying to aimlessly to-do-list our way out and get burnt out in the process.

My Te is too weak that it's nearly invisible. In what age does inferior function start to show up?
@luisa146
@luisa146 3 жыл бұрын
@@NoOne-wt6om I'm no expert, but from what I know it's technically always present, but it's outside conscious control. So you use it without knowing and likely not in the best way possible. The inferior function is the last one to develop. I read it starts to integrate in the conscious mind in the mid-thirties/forties on average. If you're younger than that like I am I wouldn't mind it too much and focus on the other functions. It's important to have a strong base to avoid inferior grip situations.

@@luisa146 But I'm only 20. :/ I have conscious connection with Si since I was a child but it's not something productive as it causes laziness and inertia for me as I overindulge in comfort zone.

This is exactly the advice I needed! So true. Another piece of advice for overindulgent Si is to exercise. For me adding a daily running routine at age 25 helped me a lot, I've been doing it about two years now. It's an Si-style activity because I do it every day and after about 3 months of struggle it felt relaxing, but it still keeps me active and more energized. Hope this helps fellow lazy INFPs/INTPs!

INTP here, been having this exact problem of leaning into my Si too much, and then feeling like I've not done anything new at all in my spare time... I think this is definitely connected to polr Se as well, aversion to any sort of new experiences that we can't predict how we'll feel in, our Si just wants to feel comfortable and so gravitates towards what it knows will feel good, like the same kind of movies etc... I listen to like the same 20 songs for moonths, mostly because I don't want to even try listening to new ones because for some reason in my mind it seems like I won't like them as much - and many I won't, but also many I will, so idk why knowing that doesn't help that much - but Ne definitely helps, as it makes me focus not on the physical enjoyment from something, but the exploration of concepts, like I find it much easier to listen to new songs if I focus on the lyrics and think of what they could mean, so on.

Wow, Yes! I know I have Ne, and used to use it so much in my college years, from taking west african dancing classes to learning about medicinal plants on a whim. Now, as I'm a little bit older I feel like I've lost that sense of possibility I used to have. Even my INFJ husband is like "switch it up, read something new," lol. I guess I feel a bit cozier in life so I don't go exploring enough. Unfortunately, it also catches me in a sad loop where I feel like I've lost my magic. I'm on my own journey to recapture it, haha. Thanks for the helpful tidbit!

I grew up in what resembles a Fi-Si loop with a dash of Ne used in writing and reading (but writing and reading a narrow spectrum of things). At some point I pushed myself to come out of my shell in the way I was told to and be "productive" and churn out creative products on autopilot. Did not work. The advice isn't wrong, I don't think, but the autopilot mentality slowly kills me on the inside and I never actually get that much done or anything decent done because my mentality is about getting quantity without much feeling. Probably an example on what happens when someone tries to operate their cognitive functions out of order. An INFP doesn't make a good ISTJ, no matter how easy it is to touch the Si base. I had to live in a different environment to learn how to turn on Ne properly, and it does make doing things, oddly, more efficient, lol. And broader interests and enough curiosity (instead of anxiety) to randomly talk to people. Kind of weird to feel that kind of freedom. It's a step I couldn't function completely skipping. Same with Fi. (I'm in an ST family, so at some point I thought everyone else's traits were the proper way to come out of my shell.)

I find myself caught between chasing novelty and doing the same things over again. I often find myself bored because nothing seems interesting enough to commit time to, while at the same time, avoiding my usual ways of passing time due to them no longer being new. However, once i've found a couple new things, i jump at the opportunity to do them again, while they're still novel to me. For example, playing a game for a week straight, then not playing it ever again. I won't play it because while i may end up immersed, I don't think i will enjoy it as much as before. My go to activity now is watching mbti videos, which has gone from Ne to Si. Learning things through documentaries or interesting tv shows can also be novel, as well as analyzing movies that are kinda artsy or have different perspectives. It can also be fun for engaging Fe in a 'safe' manner, i.e perceiving people's emotions in reality TV and getting them right. When it comes to generating new ideas, this can be difficult for me. Most ideas are recognized by me to have related to something i've previously seen or that has been done by someone else. Any good ideas are rarely executed, though i've started to write them down. intp

Try new things. Sounds about right. It’s funny how once my mind goes into that mode I find everything suddenly just feels lighter and less black and white, less like a condensed stuckness that is the Si Fi mode after too long. Just making that shift takes so long sometimes.

I have Ne but I'm not jumping from one hobby to another like I did in my childhood because now I know my passions well so I use my Ne to bring original creativity in those few passions rather than jumping to an irrelevant hobby to leave it anymore. Is this normal for INFPs in their 20s or have I matured earlier or something else?

I got to how would the author solve the conflict and immediately responded with "by killing all the characters" in a maniacal voice the proceded with an evil laugh. I love Ne and its brainstorming capacity it's so fun to just think about how things could be like I find the idea of living on mars cool and started thinking about how living on mars would cause us to change like what will language be like on a planet where efficient air usage is essential but what if somehow we are able to adapt to the atmosphere and either the boilogical changes or through training are able to breathe on Mars. Like we already know that our bones and muscles would be weaker what if we also are better able to use the oxygen we have or somehow be able to make use of another gas like oxygen. I also ended up filling a whiteboard (I mean a large like A1 size) with this mind map of this story I designed about these fantast races travelling to another planet like fairies, vampires, werewolves, demons and humans in a space ship. Anyway im totally loving your content and im so glad your back posting again! Keep up the good work your doing great.

Hey Kalypso, Do you think that an Fi-Si loop or individuals with a dominant introverted judging function are more judgemental than people with a dominant perceiving function? Or with extroverted judging? It looks to me as if extroverted feeling is less judgemental than Fi. If so, do you think it is our INFPs destiny to walk around life and judge everything around us and ourselves too or do you think we can lessen this bad trait by using more our NE? Greetings
