We're continuing the expansion of our sort of realistic North American-themed city Riverview and its metropolitan area, by FINALLY adding in a much-requested development: The airport! But we're not just adding in an airport, we're making sure that it is well integrated into the surrounding areas south of Downtown, and well connected to public transport through the development of a passenger train station and route, tram line, cargo freight train lines and both passenger- and cargo air routes as well! We're also adding some new realistic developments in the area: apartment complexes and public housing, an office / hi-tech district near the airport, and new service buildings! Hope you enjoy!

London Heathrow got its name from the hamlet of heath row that they obliterated to build it. So the airport should be called Riverview Ravenwood Airport with the iata code RRW or something
@MLunenborg
@MLunenborg 6 ай бұрын
The ICAO Code for London Heathrow is EGLL, used by the airline pilots and the navigational systems, however the IATA code for London Heathrow would be shown to passengers as LHR, using the syllables (i think?) to make a shorter name to use on messaging boards.

For the Airport Name: Douglas Carlson Regional Airport - DCR Douglas Carlson was a old miner who founded the first mines in the mountains of Riverview, besides these mines don't exist anymore, he had big influence in the outcome of the city. Normaly the short Airport Codes just are there for the luggage sorting system, often it's a shorter version of the Name with 3 letters.

Usually airports names come from important figures from the region or the country. JFK airport in New York for John Fitzgerald Kennedy, CDG airport in Paris for Charles De Gaulle, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, etc. Given that Riverview is a fictive city, it doesn't have a clear history, with important figures. So we will have to invent historical ones if we want the airport to have this type of name. That being said, I'd like to thank you for this serie of videos on the city of Riverview, I really start to get addicted to it. It so nice to watch and so interesting to see how the city is growing and developing episodes after episodes ! Can't wait for the next one !!

By far my favourite cs2 series, I just love the way you build which has the perfect blend of aesthetics and realism. Just wanted to say that I would 100% watch a 30min video that was just one to two minute clips with a still camera watching different areas of your city: hubs of activity; intersections; following transport; even just a stretch of road in a quieter district. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. I could sit for 20 minutes and just watch people arriving and leaving the airport. Can't wait for more!

The airport code should be *RVX* if you want to be realistic - Most common convention is to use first three letters but RIV is taken. Also use first letter of each word or syllable but RVV is taken. Many airports in the USA kept their old two letter code with X at the end (like LA to LAX) but RIX is taken. Therefore RVX is the next best option.

Instead of going so office heavy near the airport (which produce intangible goods in CS2) you want industrial (for warehouses and machine shops), high density commercial (for hotels), low density commercial (for fast-food, gas stations, & souvenir shops). Also, most airports have their own fire department and police station on premises or near-by. You might want to leave room for the helicopter infrastructure for police and fire to be near the airport as well. Oh, and helicopter tourism! I subscribed for your checkerboard mixed-use neighborhood zoning approach, you're the only creator I've seen do it. Brilliant nod to realism; and the best way to integrate uses and needs throughout the city. As well as break up what kinds of buildings spawn in an area (much more effective than playing whack-a-mole).

The work to remove the median near the train station's parking entrance @ around 21:50 really highlights the need for driveway aprons imo... especially with how almost every asset has a built in parking lot, it would be great if it makes a little gap in whatever grass median or sidewalk is there to connect more seamlessly with the road

Make sure to add a K before any airport identifier (3 letter code) you choose. American airports follow this rule. For example, Dallas-Fortworth International is KDFW. You should do KRIV or KRVR. A lot of airports choose to mode their FAA code and IATA code after their city name.

Here’s my suggestion, Jeremiah Wellington Montgomery was a courageous army medic who served some 200 years ago on the now destroyed fort found on heart island. He was born in what is now known as Ravenwoord. His accomplishments earned him minor recognition within the surrounding region which allowed him to win the very first municipal elections in Riverview. The airport would be named Jeremiah Montgomery Regional Airport or “JMR”

In regards to the name maybe Ravenwood airport, since that neighborhood was demolished to build the airport, and the locals would probably still refer to the area as ravenwood. Usually ariports have both an IATA code and ICAO code. For the ICAO, since it's in 'murrica, KRVW, KRRV, KRVD; K being the geographic indicator of america followed by some sort of letter mix from the name(city/airport name). IATA can also be a mix of letters from the name, like RVW RIV RIW RVO ROD. In regards to all that, a suggestion would be to rename the entire district to something like "ravenwood transport hub" since, well, it kind of already is one. love your videos :D

If you want to add some more realism to the airport, you could use the storage upgrade buildings for the recycling plant as jet fuel storage units, found on the outskirts of many airports, they all have the cylindrical shape and a sort of half dome on top. Loving the city so far!

It's kinda funny how everytime i watch one of your episodes i have a sudden desire to play cs2, but when i go into the game itself im just getting demotivated because i cant build anything remotely beautiful to this, keep up the good work!

I agree with @V3rtecs with using Riverview as the airport name and the airport code RIV. The city looks beautiful

KRVM - Riverview Municipal Airport, like other small but higher capacity airports that have grown overtime, RVM began in the early days of aviation and slowly grew alongside the surrounding infrastructure to soon support cargo 757s flow by FedEx from Memphis and numerous regional airline connections to major cities like Baltimore MD, Chicago's Midway Airport, and Newark NJ. Hopefully this is a cute little backstory for the new airport!

So many Infrastructurist bangers in this one. “…the already disappearing middle class,” and “it’s a mess, I love it!” Lol, I haven’t laughed out loud like that in a while. My favorite part about this series is seeing all the new subs in the comments who obviously started following during the new CS2 content, and seeing what you’re doing with just the vanilla tools, who probably have no idea the level of detail and beauty you brought to your modded builds. Since CS2 launched I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed for an official mods release date, because I know my first two content creators I’m going to stalk in my feeds is Two Dollars Twenty and Infrastructurist. Cannot wait to see what you guys are going to get done with these new tools and assets.

Does anyone else just appreciate Infrastructurist's dry humour and music choices? It's his commentary and general vibe that I always love tuning in for!

Glad I discovered you early on, you've definitely claimed your spot as one of the powerhouse content creators of citysims; quality editing, great pacing, excellent audience interaction. Keep it up, love to be here for it :>

The level of detail and realism you are able to squeeze from the vanilla game is second to none, Infra! I'm addicted to your content, and the more complex infrastructural projects the merrier, this is what makes your cities look like the ones we know from real life, other than the boring, perfect grids. After all, you're Infrastructurist, so you know your stuff mate! I wonder if you could attempt to make an area that's rough around the edges with what's currently in the game? The area near the port could work well for a place that's a little less successful. 😉

I have lived near an airport twice in my life and it is not much fun because of the noise. The best place for it was when I was posted to Germany and they had an amazing way of dealing with noise pollution: there was a ring of greenfield around the site that was heavily wooded, beyond that there were industrial buildings that provided support to the airport, followed by commercial areas and then there were housing sites, but none of them were the kind of housing that you have like the low density houses as people don't want to go out in to the garden in the summer and listen to jet noises as they take off. The road layout here is amazing and as complex as most airports who seem to just throw roads together while drunk and making wagers on who can come up with the most insane road layout and the fact that you have all the transport links reminds me of Dusseldorf or Schiphol, it looks great. I'm surprised you didn't choose underground parking terminals as they take up much less space on the surface and you can put in more spaces for the real estate they take up. Relatively new to the channel and happily subscribed, you videos are always great fun to watch. 😀
