We're continuing the expansion of our sort of realistic North American-themed city Riverview and its metropolitan area, by finally developing the big heart-shaped island at the very center of the region. We go for a recreational hotspot, featuring an old Civil war fort, a large modern Ferris wheel, big parks and plazas, and Riverview Botanical Gardens! We follow up with large-scale expansions to the economy of Riverview through the new-zoning and up-zoning of offices, commercial establishments, and industry - before also upping the overall density of the two main cities through residential up-zoning and adding all-new low-density single-family neighborhoods but also some "public housing" projects! Hope you enjoy!

With the removal of so much of the parking in the main city. You could unlock the Automated Parking Building and place it among the other high rise buildings. Its a huge building that might blend in with the city, plus it gives you another unique high rise building.

Try using an older bridge style for the pedestrian bridge to love island. This can add to the lore as the original bridge for pedestrians and horses to reach the civil war fort (ruins), surrounded by newer style bridges for the newer technology i.e. cars. 🔥video though.

I think what happened with patch was the rebalancing of companies going out of business. It was likely that there were several companies all producing the same thing and saturating the market but the game wasn't letting them go bankrupt. The patch let them go bankrupt, which let new companies pop up to be successful and fulfill the markets that weren't being used. It just took quite a bit of time to rebalance.

The "castle" could also be the ruins of a castle-style mansion, like Hammond Castle in Gloucester, MA. It's actually a home built in the 1920's, but was designed in the style of a Medieval castle. It is now a museum, but had it not been maintained it would have gone into ruin.

When I made use of that island, I had it made as a completely urbanized area as well as a crossroads. I have six bridges meeting there, and edged the border of the island with the quay wall effect of the pedestrian road. While dense, I did at least do the roads in a way so as to have spaces for trees and grassy areas in between the skyscrapers. And that gentle rolling hill to the edge is just art.

You can totally connect the pathways to the parks. If you set them back from the road far enough to get the no road error you can then delete the ends of the paths and connect new ones. For the parks that this doesn’t work just set them back from the road a little bit and then connect your path to the little extension it makes on its own.

For love Island's lore : Before the new local governement, cities etablished on each side of the river. The conrol of the central Island and its important wood resorces led to a small war, that destroyed cities' economy. The biggest city, located in your west Riverview won this fight, ashaming citizen from actual east Riverview, creating the fall of the east. In an excess of confidence, west built a castle but wasn't able to afford it, making them bankrupt, therefore all inhabitants left and the city was abandonned. The middle island was then decided as a no-claimed land showing the unity of the land across the river. All of this untill a guy decides to build a massive wheel and a school while going bankrupt. History teaches lessons, don't forget it, and be aware of the danger surronding this island.

There's lots of castles in the US in various styles ranging from medieval gothic to Spanish to French; some of them were used for Forts in the Revolutionary War, others were just built by various moneyed folks who liked the styles in question for their big houses. There are also Native American castle like structures in some places. Bannerman had one on an island in the middle of the river in Beacon NY on the Hudson river. :) Bannerman's is ruined (gutted by a fire years ago) but there's a volunteer trust who run tours and stuff there still, many of the others are in fantastic shape and lots of them run tours.

If the city is anywhere in the midwest or east coast, fortresses were still being built in America until 1897. Many rich land owners here in America also constructed castles because they wanted to emulate the European feel, since many of them would visit Italy and Germany. A great example is Hearst Castle, which is a insane attempt to emulate European architecture.

I'm really enjoying this series, I think your the best streamer for Cities Skylines. Please keep it going with the same city, it's awesome to see the city of Riverview grow!

You are one of my favorite cs content creators simply because how realistic your city looks. We play the same map and i try to be realistic but nothing compared to yours. Keep up the good work man 👍.

A train service and maybe the beginnings of a metro would be very beneficial for the city now

That really would be an awsome location for a giant ferris wheel. Best Cities vids on KZbin imo.

I’m not absolutely sure but to my knowledge European colonials had built a couple of ‘castles and fortresses’ on the Hudson river in NY? So it could be realistic in a way.

Damn what a city ! I think to reduce your crime rate you should unlock and place the biggest police center. Continue your videos, it’s sooooo cool to see the development of Riverview.

Man I wish CS2 had a multiplayer. Like, a soft multiplayer with each player having their own city in a region and nobody else touching your city but with the possibility to have exchange of all kinds and trade with other player controlled cities in the region - that would be so cool. Kind of like in the last Sim City. The multiplayer aspect was by far the best of the admittedly few good things about the last Sim City. I also wish they would have finally committed to fully realistic numbers regarding the number of people living/working in a building. It really breakes the immersion to see cities with loads of skyscrapers while having a population of only some 30,000. Of course this also contributes to the fact that the cities currently feel like semi ghost cities. Tons of structures and lots of skyscrapers, but way less people and cars on the streets than you'd see in a reality. These issues bother me more than the lack of optimization, because that's something that can and will be fixed eventually. But I'm pretty sure we won't see no multiplayer and we won't see no realistic building occupation in CS2.
