My own Grandfather, the actor Aron Lindgren, has two roles in this movie!! In the beginning of the movie, he plays Ingeborg Holm's husband "Sven". Later in the film he also plays "Erik", their son as an adult. I can't tell you more about this moving story itself, since it would be like start reading a book from the end. I never met my Grandfather, because he died as early as 1921, when my father (Hans) was only 4 years young. I can really recognize my own father in Aron in these two film roles, very touching! He was born 1886 in Stockholm. Greetings from Britt, Stockholm/Sweden

Intressant, Britt. Jag har börjat se Victor Sjöströms filmer och just Ingeborg Holm anses vara en av stumfilmsperiodens främsta filmer. Medverkade din farfar i fler av hans filmer?

Well, mate, I doubt she'll ever answer that. I'm not sure if he ever did act in anything else but I'd like to know if you have learned more about that. Nice day.

@@lauraagata818 Hi Laura, thanks for the interest! Since my grandfather died when my own father was just a little boy, my father (no longer alive) could not tell us so much about Aron. Aron's wife, Elsa (my grandmother), died in 1926, when my father was at age 9, and dad had to move to my grand-uncle and grand-aunty. The only info. we have, are grandpa's date of birth (Nov. 29 1886 in Stockholm) and death (Sept. 4, 1921 in Stockholm of tuberculosis). Aron's sister told us, that Aron was a talented actor, but as I can understand, he worked mostly as a theatre actor. We also know, that he played in other films than "Ingeborg Holm", but I have sadly no idea about which those were. I'm the oldest in the family Lindgren, born 1947, who is still alive, so I have unfortunately no one to ask. It's a shame… A short time ago we found Aron's final resting place, a columbarium in the beautiful Engelbrekt Church (Engelbrektskyrkan) in Stockholm. Warm regards, Britt (sorry for my English...)

By far the best silent film I've seen. I didn't think I could be moved to tears by a silent film.

It is probably the first great full-length silent film. They were VERY many great silent films that followed it. For silent film at one of its peaks, try The Passion of Joan of Arc.

I have seen many films from this period, & it was clear for a short while before WWI that Scandanavian filmakers were up with the best, & the acting was second to none, as this film shows. Very good film for the time, though very depressing & sad like many of the films from this area of the world.

This was a very moving film even if the ending was overly optimistic

Classic silent, with this the Swedes proved they could make 'em with the best of 'em.
