Reminded me of the time I was trialling a stretch of the LWW before doing it all in 1 go. We took a wrong turn at the top of the incline and ended up going down it and back up . I don't remember the tree. Is there a very small village at the base of the slope? When I saw that I realised we'd took a wrong turn. Shame about the mist, enjoyed the video/memory. cheers.

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. The LWW is a tough one. I've not done it myself but know a few that have. There is a small settlement at the bottom with a few cottages. Going back up the Incline isn't the best of detours to add to your hike.

@@danpattinson Yes the LWW is tough but we practised the route in bits for months beforehand to ensure we didn't go wrong on the day. Yes that incline made sure we didn't reach our desired "turn back to the car" spot that day but was good stamina training!!! Yes just a few houses not really a village is what I remember. Cheers again. One day while "training" for the LWW we came across 6 people on the moors near Fylingdales in single file who were nearing completion of the "coast to coast" apart from the leader they were tied together and blind/partially sighted Amazing.

Hi Dan, I know that path, but haven't seen that tree. Any pointers to spotting it please?

Hi William. The location of the tree is approx NZ 60262 03663. It is in the last block of trees on the satellite map. You will see a small track into the trees, just near where there is a bit of fence on the main track. It’s only 20-30 metres into the trees.

You should definately revisit in the summer on a sunny day, when the upper canopy is filled with green leaves, its magical.
