Been 20 years since I threw on a wheel last with more than 4k total pieces made. Have to say your technique is top notch and you move the clay like a master! I always wedged into cones and set them tip up to start off. Just make sure you are turning so the wedge spiral is following the wheel direction, or it essentially unwinds the clay wraps from the wedging. Learned that from a Masters potter's class once. Think he was named Davis. Long ago... Geat Work!

That ladies and gentlemen is a Master Craftsman at work. I would love to be able to create something like that. I had a go on a potters wheel years ago it looked so easy. I ended up losing my dentures, doing a strange wiggle dance and bouncing about like Barbara Windsor in Carry on Camping. Final result? I produced a blob of clay that probably looked a lot better before I went anywhere near it :)

@@user-mb4df8pr8j After throwing the clay on the wheel you have to balance its mass in the center so it isn't wobbly.

I miss ceramics T.T use to throw on the wheel all the time in high-school. I love things like this! The way he centered, pulled out and threw up was really fluid he didn't force the clay he moved with it. I also love how he got the shape while bottle necking or choking the rim can cause complications he ensured that the shoulder kept its integrity all the while. I did something like this though I completely enclosed the top creating a hollow sphere to then use a needle tool to create a lid from the top. Over all a ton of fun and takes a ton of skill if you don't know what you are doing well that clay is going to wrinkle or flop especially depending on the amount of water used ^^; amazing skill quite enjoyed the process what I would give to throw on a wheel again :)
