Picked one up. Trigger was perfect but every 10 rounds or so it was like the sear had a snag on it. I put a dummy round In and pulled the trigger slowwwwly smoothing out the snag. Then put 200 rounds through it. It took that to remove the trigger snag. Now shes consistant. Other than this break in period. Excellent pistol.

I bought one two weeks ago. What an accurate shooter, holy moly. Was shocked by how it grouped with 124 grain at 14 yards. It wasn't problem free however. The slide stop was very sensitive to any accidental touch during firing and would prematurely lockback if I made accidental contact with my thumb. Once I moved my thumb down to the trigger guard, no problems while firing. And I had to adjust the rear sight slightly to the left to get center hits from bench-rest. Not sure this is really a ding against it, but it looks like the lanyard loop is staked on, and the sear spring button is a little rough around the tooling. So you'll likely have to get lanyard loop grips, or modify non lanyard grips to fit around it. Other than those things, the damn thing has been worth it's wait in gold as a Mark 3 high power clone you don't feel guilty for scuffing or scratching up. It's an Inglis in name only, but I love mine so far. I'd recommend it if you can ever find one.

I just discovered your channel. Thank you so much for your excellent review! I was planning on purchasing a Browning Hi-Power clone but was only familiar with the Girsan model--think I will get this one instead!

Thanks for the review. Also thanks for doing a filed strip of the pistol. I am happy to see the firing pin block on this repro model. I hope to have one in my collection later this year.

I like it and if my local shop gets one in I'll certainly look to purchase it. I currently don't have any of the new production Hi-power pistols, just some of the originals.

SDS / Tisaş should consider making Hi-Powers in .380 ACP and 30 Super Carry too. Perhaps also a .38 Super / 9x19mm model with two respective barrels much like the Tisas Desperado / Regulator / Stakeout 1911s? And have you explored whether a similar concept is possible with the .40 S&W and 10mm rounds?

I don't know if it screws in or is staked in. It looks staked, but I cannot say for sure. The next model that will launch in a month or so, will not have the lanyard (I believe) and will have walnut grips.

These are way cheaper than the SA-35. Is there a difference in quality? Forged frame and slide?
@ThrowingCopperCRA-2022
@ThrowingCopperCRA-2022 Ай бұрын
As far as know, they are both forged. To me the quality and fit & finish between the two are comparable. I prefer the finish, safety and walnut grips of the SA35, but the Inglis does have a firing pin block and ambi safeties and some will prefer the smoother finish of the Inglis.

I would say they are on par. I have a Girsan Match and it is my all time favorite HP35 but that is just because of the big beavertail preventing hammer bite.

@@TheShocktrauma A spokesman for SDS, the importer, denies that they are made by Girsan or Tisas in a video that is circulating online, and only states that they are made in Turkey by a company that has mostly made shotguns in the past. I would be interested to know if anyone has information about the actual manufacturer.

Having served alongside Brits and Aussies in Afghanistan - who carried L9A1s - and having some appreciation of historical FN/BHP models (which i own), I fail to see how this is an “authentic” copy of an Inglis L9A1 (or any Inglis HP). The Inglis has an early MkI style internal extractor, does not have a Mk III action, has different sights, has an ugly black enamel paint-like finish, has the mag safety, thumbprint slide cut, etc. This is in-fact a Mk III with a lanyard loop and it akin to calling a 1911A1 with a polished blue finish, combat sights and an extended beavertail “an accurate reproduction of a GI issued WW2 Colt 1911…” SDS and Tisas can do better. Tisas is making a very nice HP called the SA-35, so they could tool up and make an appropriate Mk I style Inglis HP.

@radical026
@radical026 22 күн бұрын
Mostly accurate but not entirely true. It's not an accurate Inglis, or an accurate WW2 Hi Power, but it IS an accurate rendering of at least ONE version of the L9A1 - while the initial L9A1 pistols were Inglis guns with Mk I features etc., there were later batches of FN-made BHPs produced throughout the rest of the 20th century that shared the exact same designation. Reusing the designation makes it a bit nebulous but you can get an understanding based on auction photos and photos in service. They should not have described it as accurate to WW2, but it is also not true to say that it isn't an L9A1. It is pretty close to the last few batches purchased by the British, though from photos those seem to have almost all had spur hammers instead of the rowel or ring type (and making it more frustrating, there are also a bunch of odd mixed-parts guns as in any military).
