Some were as old as 21 and had been here less than 6 months. Obama made the rules quite flimsy and then did not even honor them as such. With nothing to stop them, and every incentive to keep coming, the DACA rolls grew every year. When offered a path to citizenship by Trump, DACA recipients claimed that their extended families (some of which are not even living here) should also be included in the amnesty because you "can't break up a family". Keep in mind, there is no way to prove who is related to whom, and that they ALL broke the law and came illegally. So, it is not about punishing the kids or young adults. It was as always, the list of add- ons that became out of control. Trump offered a path to citizenship in trade for supporting the wall so that this could not keep happening. The Dems said no.

We should not focus on immigration issues - and there are many other issues much more deserving of our time.
