In 2010, King’s Hawaiian began a multi-state search to find the right location for long-term growth. They ultimately selected Oakwood, Georgia for their East Coast operations due to its infrastructure, workforce and ecosystem of food processing companies . It wasn’t long before they doubled their capacity and then started construction on another similarly sized facility right next door. According to Food Business News, King’s Hawaiian became America’s top-selling brand in the fresh rolls/buns/croissant category in August 2014.
King’s Hawaiian has enjoyed continued success in part due to Georgia’s number one workforce training program, Quick Start, along with Lanier Tech. In addition, they have benefitted from the food science program at the University of Georgia, and the manufacturing and robotics expertise at Georgia Tech.
One-third of the country’s top 100 food processing companies have operations in Georgia, and more than 175 food processing companies opened or expanded operations in Georgia in the past 10 years, investing more than $2.3 billion in the state. In total, food processing represents $10.7 billion of Georgia’s GDP.

They sell hawaiian bread that has nothing to do with Hawaii. just another american company doing what they do best, lying to customers.

We bought two packages of King's dinner rolls for Thanksgiving one year. One of the packages got pushed to the back of the drawer and was forgotten. The next year, we brought home two more packages and then found the package from the previous year. You couldn't tell the difference between those and the ones we just brought home. They were soft, with no mold--exactly like the new ones. We threw them all away.

Not true. There are many sweet breads that have origins from all around the globe. Brioche from France, for example, which also has a very similar taste/texture of King's Hawaiian.

In Greece, this sweet 'Easter bread' is called 'Tsoureki'. There are many 'sweet bread' variations around the globe, that go back a long long time.

Her father stole the recipe from my Great Great Grandmother. My Great Great Grandmother's name was Maggie KING. He let my Great Great Grandmother who often made baked goods for the church on sundays use his bakery one day because the churches oven broke. My great great grandmother confronted him when she found out he was using her Portuguese sweet bread recipe and selling it in his bakery. She was poor and had no money to take him to court or persue the matter. So he agreed to put her last name KING on the brand of the bread. My Grandmother still knows the original recipe and she makes it every summer. It's 100x better than Kings Hawaiian.
