Last season many were the critics who claimed that these two legends were finished, Iniesta especially. So far this season, they have proved that it wasn’t them who were finished, it was the system. While Luis Enrique’s Barca tried to get the ball to the MSN trio as fast as possible, Valverde’s team has the midfield prioritized once again. In this more possession based system Iniesta has less defensive duties and can create closer to the goal while Busquets doesn’t have to be the whole midfield all by himself and can act as the creative anchor as he’s meant to be. And when that happens, these two magicians thrives and shines again, and it's truly a joy to watch.

Henrik Lehmann That's the point I always say, MSN is powerful but after all it doesn't have the key functions of midfield. Iniesta and Busquest are the top midfielders and they both clearly know the attacking role of FCB. No one can violate the rule : midfield is the brain of a team. The declination of MSN in last season is the proof, especially Neymar, always wanted to be the main character to power up the attacking, since the last season, he always dribble and did not corporate with teammates, destroyed the Tiki Taka system and ignored the midfielders. Just look at the away match against Real Madrid in the last season , without Neymar, FC Barcelona can be itself, midfield was back and won the game. I hope everyone can see the truth, FCB's success is not base on Messi or MSN, is the strong midfield.

Tony S Iniesta is irreplacable but we can get close , Denis Suarez has the potential to be a very good creative CM , he has the dribbling skills, if we just have him closely watch Iniesta or play him over Iniesta in smaller games he will develop . Samper is a potential successor for Busquets, we could have started to grow him into that role this season but the board had other plans and loaned him out .

Honestly, Busquets and Alba are probably the most underrated players in our team as of now. We do have Sergi Samper to replace Busquets. And we have players like Denis Suarez and Alena to replace Iniesta. But I don't think we'll ever get a trio like Iniesta-Busquets-Xavi. This is the greatest trio ever.

Amazing video and as always very fitting comment on the current situation. Even if Iniesta didn't seem that great against Getafe, he might actually have a great season if he stays uninjured. Had a really good match against Juve. There's nothing to say on Busquets really as he imo only had a pretty short period of time in the beginning of last season where he was poor. Iniesta (and also Busquets) should and will probably get a break tomorrow against Eibar, hopefully Denis will show his huge potential once again. I wonder what comes next or after the monthly Messi video, can't wait for a Semedo video 😅
