Humans decimate their habitats, which obviously affects their food and water sources, we do mass culls and kill them and their babies and the list goes on. So when they have to venture out to find these things we humans decide that we should start shooting, using in-humane traps etc. etc. to stop them from trying to survive. Anyone else see the problem here? At the end of the day HUMANS moved into their house! We need to help them survive not kill them for trying to do so!

I am glad that he did not become socialized with humans. He is still emotionally inoculated from wanting to be a friend of a human. A great protective instinct. It's good that it was not compromised.

@@christinacottrell6505 yup. I have both cats and dogs. I’ve seen coyotes grab cats, but I dont wish them any harm. They are just out there trying to survive. If you have cats and live in an area with coyotes, you either keep them inside or know the risk of letting them out.

That’s because you have never seen a Coyote kill calf or a bunch of chickens or many times the family dog or cat. Will you be celebrating Coyotes when they kill your dog? Coyotes are legally classified as vermin, to be shot on sight.

@@rickjason215 I wouldn’t be celebrating on a loved pet’s death, no. But I wouldn’t hate the coyote. To the coyote, food is food, he needs to survive. I would blame the person too, for not keeping a watchful eye on their dog / cat. (Cattle and chickens however are hard to prevent)

Love to see this beautiful animal rescued. Just remember to keep your pets safely indoors around coyotes. One of their favorite meals are cats and small dogs. You farmers out there know what I'm talking about.

Farmers are the worst people to have animals. They tend not to care about their welfare, so they abandon them outside. They then become outraged when a coyote sees a meal. Personally, from growing up around farmers, I know they do it on purpose so they can kill the coyotes. I’ve watched them slaughter their own dogs, claim it was a wolf, and then get the state to kill the wolf pack…only to later admit they faked it. Farmers use public lands to graze poor cattle that will be sent to slaughter, then round up the wild horses and burros, and send them to slaughter - all because people support their BS. Hell, farmers are also responsible for the destruction of the Amazon. Don’t support farmers, especially not the kind that leave their animals outside 🙄

When I was younger my family raised a small murder of five crows. Sadly, one of them didn't make it but the other four did. It was sad that we couldn't release him with the rest of his murder but they stayed in the area and one of them even let me pet her from time to time. They were so smart and knew when it was time to eat, when their cage needed to be cleaned and they knew our faces. It was those crows that have made me want to have a pet raven or crow someday.

I’m from the Mojave desert, and coyote are generally considered with fear especially if you have chickens, ducks, rabbits, etc. But they’re part of the delicate desert ecosystem, and do a lot to keep the wild rabbit population down. Like wolves, they are part of the whole. Eradicating them leaves nature seriously off balance. When I was a kid, there was kind of a ‘look the other way’ policy on killing coyotes, and they suffered a huge dip in their numbers. Suddenly, with no predators, the jackrabbit population mushroomed. Lawns were decimated, gardens stripped of produce, people were demanding “something” be done about all these pesky rabbits eating everything! Pretty ironic. Coyotes are very shy towards humans, and even living out in the country, we saw them rarely. We’d hear them calling at night, but saw them only a handful of times. It’s so great to see people care for these often maligned animals, and let them return to a normal, wild life.

I always find it sad whenever specific animals get demonized, portrayed as evil, either because of ignorance or we human beings believing that we're so pure and better than (which is totally not true, if there is an "evil" animal, humans are pretty close to deserving that label) The thing with coyotes is that like other animals, we have destroyed and encroached on their habitats. So coyote encounters and attacks are more likely to happen, especially in areas where coyotes used to call home. It's important to not have coyotes get too comfortable around humans, and to always supervise pets and children when they're outside, especially if its a place where there are coyotes around.

The further north you go in North America, the bigger the coyotes get. They are critically important members of the ecosystem. Without them, we would be overrun with mice, rats and rabbits. They are the most successful canid on earth, populating 49 of the 50 states and all of North America from the Panama canal to the Arctic Circle.
