Early in the game's life, before any DLC characters were released, I travelled from Austin to San Antonio for my first fighting game tournament ever, and played Wonder Woman. I could do her big whip overhead that hit half the screen and the space above her and went straight into oki. Then a 50/50 high-low mixup, either one would do 34% life and went straight back into the same oki setup. I had two of my tires slashed after the tournament and never went to another fighting game event again.

For a little context, Bane in this game had armor on all his specials and some normals that lasted a very long time, including his command grab. He could do 50%+ combos, his command grab ticked on hit and on block. He was mid tier at best.

@@БорисЦветков-й6ь and his dash was buffed to basically be a teleport and he had complete immunity to projectiles on his specials at level 3 (they just pass through him like they don’t exist) AND his specials break the opponent’s armour. He was my favourite grappler ever lol

I remember playing Bane in Injustice 2. He was a lot of fun, but felt like he was in the wrong game. I just didn't have the patience to pressure as a grappler in a game where the meta is zoning.

Sajam understandably brushed over Cyborg but Day 1 Cyborg's instant air blast used to be a mid (at least on some characters, not sure if it was universal). And if you had the execution for it, instant air projectiles would be a legit infinite block string on some characters from FULL SCREEN because they were plus and you could do them so fast. I believe Alioune, the French Street Figher player, was the one to discover this. After that was patched out, Cyborg was completely irrelevant otherwise.

Injustice 1 and MKX really suffered from the PS3/X360 gen brown filter era. What doesn't help is that the animations don't really set a good choreography to sell the fighting. Everyone fights like they're drunk.

I played Shazam in this game. The character barely worked, had a trait that buffed punches when most of his normals were kicks and his specials were grabs or projectiles. But his teleport had so much invulnerability on wakeup for some reason that he was really hard to lock down, and of course he had a very injustice jumping 2 that was so active it could hit on the way up or the way down to give you some left/right instant overhead mix. Even the worst characters had busted stuff. But Zod, Batgirl and MMH were the stuff of nightmares.

something that you didn't talk about is that the non-metered version of teleport was a MID pre-nerf, so you had to block it, and if you did you have to hold all that nasty mix. NRS doesn't hotfix nerf things too often, Scorpion was one of them so you know they messed up
