In a recent interview with Ed Boon, Ed talked about the Gear System in Injustice 2. He talked extensively about how it will work, as well as whether or not Micro-Transactions will be involved, here are my thoughts.

So my question is are there gonna be different costumes for everyone like the last game that we add pieces of gear on or only one base look that we add cosmetic gear to for what ever old costume look we wanted? I really like this unlock gear and equip stuff to look unique idea but I also don't want to lose all the cool alternate outfits like we had in the last game.

I can see what you're saying on the micro transactions, however, they are also good for people that don't have that much time to play the game (E.G Busy dads, etc) so they can spend $20 on some gear to fill in for the time that they can't play, or whatnot.

It's clear you haven't thought this through, you say; "What if I wanna jump online with some of my friends that do have this gear, and I want to face them with my gear what if his gear is better than mine" well duh, that's why you have the no gear mode. how is anyone still worried about balance in this game or even micro transactions, if you want to play with gear, play with gear. If you want to play without gear play without gear against other people who don't want to use gear. this is just not a problem. if you want the gear for cosmetic reasons and you don't want to spend money on the "micro transactions" then you can grind out. this payment model is so not a problem there is a mode which specifically takes away stats and abilities on gear. - Brawly's Rant.

+Jasper Unlimited I agree with you guys, because I want to pay for all the gear so I can have the gear for single player only, and for online I want the bare bones, so I'm happy with paying for all the gear and having an online mode with no gear is even better for me because I'll play that mode more online even I have all of the gear. Here's the reality people, Ed Boon wants money and to make money he puts a thing that unlocks everything even all of the gear for $30.00 right from the start. He did it with MKX with the unlock all of the crypt, and he will have an unlock all of the gear pack when the game comes out. So micro transactions is going to happen, because Ed Boon wants money people.

Micro transactions are bull shit. I won't care if you can unlock all the armor from experience, but it will be BS if you can only get some with money. I already spent $60 on a game and I need to make that money back. I can't always afford dlc and micro transactions.

I don't see how they're going to do skins with the gear. Also they could just do what they did with the mobile game where you couldn't buy just any piece of gear you wanted. Sure you could buy a pack but their contents were randomized. Ed Boon said there are literally thousands of pieces of gear so I don't think you'll be able to buy each one individually anyways.

Maybe skins could be a set of new gear? Like if you got the Red Son Superman for example, maybe that costume can be broken up into pieces (arms, torso, cape, etc) so you can wear the whole skin or you could mix and match it with other gear

Im with you, they could just have all the game modes, with the option to make the gear just visual or changing stats. BUT NO, the no gear mode will be shity next to the gear modes. This is WB, they will push you anyway they can for you to buy, make no mistake. The gear modes will be best and more in number, than the no gear mode. Be ready for a pay to win BS storm! (at least on the funnier game modes) Im almost inclined o think, that the gear, was not a creative decison but a financial one. (excuse for micro transactions) I hope im wrong. Cheers bro

I don't know why micro-transactions is viewed as this horrible thing, especially when most of them are purely cosmetic and only changes the look of a character, some people have responsibilities, jobs, career, family and they can't do the daily grind of playing a game every single day for hours on end so if there's an outfit or something you like that you can buy when you know you don't have the time to put 60 hours into the game there's No harm.

Adam Dillard How is buying a cool outfit help you win... most micro-transactions don't help you win, as a matter of fact almost none help you win, if it was unfair as you put it then developers wouldn't allow it so that fact that it's there proves other wise, those of us that have busy lives that like games can't spend forever playing games like other people with less busy lives, if they want to unlock something now instead of needing to play through many hours and levels to unlock it who cares.

+themarine0316 the problem with micro-transactions is not with the cosmetic ones. It's using micro-transactions to help players gain an edge without playing. If the gear can be payed for, it ruins the system cause the gear gives an ADVANTAGE and being able to just pay for it ruins the experience. Purely cosmetic ones are not that bad. Still shouldn't exist, but they're not as bad as ones that can give an advantage.

I don't even think the gear is going to be OP. I feel like it will work like "exotic" items in Destiny. They just enhance certain perks/moves without making a character too OP. And it's not like you'll be going against someone without gear, if they have gear, so do you, so what's the problem?

For me I would like a way to pay for the all of the gear right away, because 1) I'm not a big online player, 2) It will make things much easier for me in 1v1 multiplayer against my brother, and 3) I honestly will just play online multiplayer for fun, without the gear, because it will be unfair to other people because I have all the gear. So, yeah for me I would like to pay for all the gear right away, because I don't like ranked online multiplayer that much, and I don't play online anyway, by the this is my opinion, so you can agree or disagree with me.

Microtransactions will probably use a gamble system. (For Gear with stats, not cosmetic stuff) Buy a gear chest that gives you random shit every time. That will prevent it from being imbalanced.

Micro transactions may not ruin an online game, For example FIFA ultimate team. you can buy packs which have players but due to the "division" system you dont ever really verse someone who is much better/worse than you. also it doesnt matter if you have the best gear, what matters way more is if your the better player

Both sides of the spectrum on the gear system are correct, so I will be the middle ground and say if you don't want the gear system or micro transactions then use the no gear mode on PvP or play the first game if it literally makes you not to play the game in the slightest. And for those who don't think micro transes aren't a problem, then you really need to play King games and lose a lot. And honestly, the people who like the gear are the smallest population in this and who are right to like it.

I think the skins will still be there. When you put gears on you can overlap it with a skin and it will not show the gears. As if the skin is covering it.

I kinda hope they put in microtransactions just to irritate people over something so silly. If want to play with gear, play with gear, if you don't want to play with gear, then don't. And isn't there mentions of a with gear balancing system. It confuses me why people care so much about what other people do with their money over a game thats sure to be $60 at base. If someone wants to splurg their $20 on something they want, why are you getting in a hissy fit & how would you know if they grinded for it or payed for it anyway. IDK seems like a silly thing to complain about when it will still take some degree of skill to win a battle regardless of gear if there is a quoted balancing system in place...
