Erik Kjer neither side is rational enough for that. Batman is of the idea that there is never ever a justifiable reason to take a life. Even if that life is objectively a danger to thousands or millions of other lives. Also Robin makes the joke that Batman won't kill but he has no problem causing brain damage with skull shattering kicks and punches. Superman is of the idea that people are completely incapable of taking care of themselves and that if he doesn't micromanage the entire world that crime will never go away. And so he creates a world government where nobody is allowed to even say or think what they want. he's even killing the people that are trying to help him. He killed Shazam who was just a child just because Shazam said that Superman was going too far by offering to destroy a city just to prove a point. so neither party is going to listen to one another. So just let them punch each other as much as they want.

There was a weird Japanese RPG like that, actually. The story was that a futuristic school implemented a system where the students used augmented reality to throw arguments at each other and deal damage in turn based combat system... then it turns out the whole thing was a cover for aliens to train kids with their psychic powers so that they can be enlisted into a universal peace-keeping force to fight against invaders from another universe. So yeah, it went from weird to *weeeeeeeird*.

Margret Thatcher's supermove would be to raise taxes until the opponent can't pay so they end up being beaten half to death by law enforcement. But it would have no effect on Batman, Robin, Green Arrow, Black Canary or Aquaman, since they're in the 1% top earners (or related to one).

The in game explanation for Cat Woman being able to fight on equal footing with Superman is that everyone is taking a special plot contriving super drug known as 5U93R. And yes, they really thought they could get away with calling it "Super" just by writing it in l33t. None of this explains how their bullets hurt him or why their swords and arrows don't just shatter like tortilla chips on his rippling super tits so I guess you're just supposed to assume the bad writing... I mean Kryptonian steroid also works on inanimate objects.

Well as a software engineer, I applaud NetherRealm Studios for sticking to the DRY principle and re-using as many assets as possible. I say this semi-ironically but there is a legitimate problem in the games industry with nobody knowing a thing software engineering, which is barely engineering anyways so it shouldn't be that hard.

The story mode doesn't address the pills; and at some point Batman straight up takes down Wonder Woman before the pills were invented (flashback) . The game's story makes no sense at all in that context. But the fighting is fun!

The 'normal humans fighting superhumans' thing got explained in the first game. Basically, none of the characters ARE normal humans. They all dosed up on this nanotech that made them super strong. But you'll note that Superman doesn't get a single fair fight in story mode (grenade, years in sun red prison, slashed by gold kryptonite knife) and the Flash gets shot in the knee before his first fight.

Injustice is the only series (i know of don't start nailing me to a cross for not knowing everything) that hemmorages exposition at you by having you read a comic, it's a comic that literally sets up the entire story from loises death to super mans fall, I mean I know it's based on comics but why not put it in story mode instead of hammering it into our skulls with an actual comic? (I also realised New vegas had a tie in comic but it wasn't really required we still learned about Benny's past and Courier six is a mystery and down to the player.)

Local not so much. Online on the other hand,if it's not rank or if you are lucky enough to find someone that won't use the gear than yes. It is pretty much the new thing the game brought and is essential for most of the multiplayer and some multiverse. Don't get me wrong the game is good,but those two things at least for me are stepbacks. I prefer MKX,maybe is just me

Hmm, maybe Yahtzee is onto something... What characters would be ideal to copy-paste into this game? I was thinking: -Huntress -Firefly -Azrael -Man Bat -Killer Croc -OMAC (Batman already made Brother Eye, so it's unavoidable) Also, seeing as Dark Horse Comics and DC have a shared universe, there's nothing wrong with including Alien and Predator again. They've already made appearances alongside Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Robin, Green Arrow, Catwoman, etc. You could even throw in Terminator, since Superman once fought a few.

The thing that irks me most about this game is the plot is more or less ripped from Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Braniac tracking Earth because of the Green Lantern Corps? *Check.* Secret Society of Supervillains gets formed? *Check.* Justice League gets divided due to emotional meltdowns and mind control? *Check.* Braniac's Betas slaughtering citizens in the streets? *Check.* Lineup of lesser-known characters including Cheetah, Dr. Fate, and Atrocitus? *Check.* Now don't get me wrong: I loved Lego Batman 3. And Injustice 2 isn't that bad. But aside from the whole "Superman is a Nazi" thing, it's abundantly clear that Netherrealm's writers were lazy and just pressed Ctrl + H in Microsoft Word to save time.

While the pills were explained in the comics, the comics definitely don't try to explain how you can have a Green Arrow vs Green Arrow fight in Injustice 2 when one of them is supposed to be dead. YET. (although, maybe? But Joker v Joker should definitely be impossible.)

To be fair, Superman was the child power fantasy comic and Batman (well, before the massive censorship of the 50s-60s) was a deconstruction of the tropes and was more or less a psychological study on why some weirdo would run around dressed in spandex fighting what they call "crime". Therefore they either had to make Superman more dark or make the story more simplistic, and personally I prefer the former rather than the latter.

Yahtzee, you proclaim to have difficulty with fighting games. I suggest you look into Fantasy Strike. It is designed to give exactly the same amount of depth you would normally get from a 2D fighter, but get down to the core mechanical essence so hard you can literally play it with a guitar controller (I'm not even exaggerating, they literally advertise that you can use a Guitar Hero controller). Of course, you'll never read this comment because this video was many years ago and why would you ever?

Who wants Yahtzee to review another Star Wars game or 2. No, not Battlefront 2. I'm talking about knights of the old republic, or KOTOR, and republic commando. The former being both the best Star Wars game Bioware ever made and one of the best RPGs Bioware ever made. And the ladder being one of the best Star Wars first person shooters ever made, which is also the best co-op game that isn't co-op Also, if Yahtzee sees this, the games together are cheap. Together they cost $10 in America, RC is $5 on steam, I think, and KOTOR is $5 for the iPad, and I suggest getting the iPad version because the graphics are better and there's no frame around the edges like Symphony of the Night

And like Mortal Kombat 9 and especially X, the story craps itself. For one, Flash's ultimate was changed to him going back in time to before the Sphinx was damaged and smashes his opponent into it. Why then can't he go back in time and avert Superman turning evil? And they release evil Superman to help fight Brainiac instead of calling up the good Superman from the main universe, which Aquaman does to oppose evil Superman in his arcade ending! The whole plot is pointless.

The major differences between Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat X are that MKX was good and had a unique mechanic that altered the entire game from new players to veterans, and Injustice 2 has all the same problems of Injustice 1, but with fucking loot crates.

there really is no pleasing Yhatzee when it comes to fighting games because he gets pissy when the games have input commands that you have to memorize so you have to require skill to use them, and he gets just as pissy when the games as user friendly as can be like Smash bros, requiring the skill to come in how you work with its basic controls. Basically for all his high brow talk, Yhatzee doesn't like having to be directly challenged in a game and be constantly reminded how much he sucks at it so he takes it out in game review form.

epic gear changes costumes pretty dramatically. theres batman beyond gear for example. admitedly it sucks to try and get those items because they are so rare for a set but yknow. its actually very cool customization wise for a fighting game and it plays better than mkx. i love Yahtzee but hes not a fighting game guy, and if you are injustice 2 is actually solid

I dunno, I found MKX's combat to feel totally different to IJ2's. MKX is all about characters getting in your face and has a smaller, more focused screen, wheras IJ2 is kinda on a larger scale with more positioning and variety of moves, particularly ranged strategies that all the casual players are/were up in arms about. Not that I think you're seriously reviewing things, but just my two cents?

Super complex controls are always stupid in fighting games because there are always a bunch of intuitive, comparatively simple inputs that don't have any moves assigned to them just because the creators are pretentious fucks who think needlessly complex controls are something to boast about. If I win in a fighting game, I want it to be because my strategies & reflexes were better. Not because the other player took a small break from the game & couldn't remember the 10 button combination needed to use a basic special move. People always defend this crap by saying better moves should be harder to use & yet no one has ever criticized a fighting game for *not* having complex controls. Basing the challenge on bad controls makes no sense because it makes it imbalanced. You can't balance a move as well when the time it takes people to use it varies wildly. That's why it's better to use simple controls but use things like starting/ending lag & energy requirements or circumstantial requirements to balance moves. Rest is one of the most difficult moves in the Smash Bros. games even tough you only have to push down & B to use it because you need extremely precise aim & timing to land it & you leave yourself wide open by attempting it. That's how balance works. Not giving 2 characters moves of near equal usefulness but making one move have a more complex input than the other.

Well to be fair, in Injustice 1 they explain away the fact normal humans can stand up to super humans thanks to a super-strength/super-endurance pill that was developed by Luthor and, presumably, is still available.

I actually like the game but I hate how the gears are because I don't like playing ranked and people are too stubborn to turn them off. The multiverse is super fun to mess around in and is the most fun I've had in a fighting game.

He didn't die he got teleported into Brainiac ship for analysis on his knowledge and abilities and Brainiac wanted to fake his death for Supergirl to enact revenge against him for the death of her cousin (Despite him being an ass and despite the fact he tell Batman and the rest of the asshole Justice League, some good apple Team Bat members to hand Kara over to him to help save what's left of their planet) and he did accomplish his plan by Supergirl coming their so he could capture her for his analysis but after Superman escape his prison cell and rescue Batman and from getting killed and help defeat Swamp Thing and Firestorm and his robot soldiers and him Supergirl escaped her cell to come help along with the rest of the team at the end and that is the best way of how I could explain this confusing moment of Superman's return take it or leave it

I feel like the story shouldn't be over thought and the writing for the story is good considering there just making a fighting game and can't put everything into consideration ( arrows unable to hurt superman) 'cause they have to make it fun one way or the other

I admit I treat fighting games the same way. It's an often shallow exploration of character for characters that generally don't get the attention. It's a nice bit of extra, even though sometimes the effort isn't worth the payoff. Still, nice to see the characters move around anyways.
