I love that you have the rule - you can't buy a book from an author unless you have read all their other books on shelves first. I have a similar rule, but I usually let myself have two unread books from any author at any one time. I am far to greedy for books:)

I am so glad you popped up on my home page; subscribed. I love your choice of books and the way you describe them. I like the way you speak clearly, descriptively, and gently as well (plus, you love dogs). My favorite book reviewer on KZbin is WellDoneBooks, but he doesn’t post anymore. I am looking forward to watching your other videos too.

The Air you Breathe has been added to the TBR and I have The Little Stranger but am trying to read her books in order so aren't there yet. You're right about the colder weather making you want to curl up with a big tome Russell.🍁

So many on this list that have been on my TBR! I love a good chunky book, nothing better than getting lost in a fabulous writing! Love the idea of dedicating a month to longer books 🙌🏻❤️ (ps I think I’ll get to the Nothomb this week so will keep you posted!)

Oooh I was thinking of dabbling in non fiction November because I’ve never done it, but also know I’ll go mad without fiction for a month so perhaps I can do both chunky fiction alongside non fiction?

I just ordered A Winters Promise and Ohio last night! I didn't realise Ohio was so large! Sarah Waters is an author I have almost picked up so many times but for some reason I always decide against it. Too many people are loving her though so I think I need to give her a chance! Kintu has been on my shelves for so long now, I really need to get to it, thanks for bringing that to my attention! haha I think these are my favorite videos of yours for sure, you give the BEEEEESSST recommendations!

I'm french so I could read the 3 first books from Christelle Dabos (a winter's promise is the 1st) and LOVED them. The world she created is complex so it's not easy to come into it, some people complained about the amont of descriptions. But once you're into it, it's really hard to get out of the story. I hope the translation is good because the world and caracters created by Christelle Dabos are AMAZING. Ohio seems great, I hope it's going to be translated. If not I may try to read it in english but I scared about the level of language. Thanks for your channel, I suscribed about 3 months ago and really like the way you talk about books.
@InkandPaperBlog

Oh that makes me so happy to hear. I hope the translation does it justice. Europa is usually really good with that. Ohio was fantastic. It is not a hard read - so I think if you tried in English you could be okay.

Kintu is a really cool book! I also found the introduction to the book to be quite fascinating, as apparently the author had a hard time publishing this book for being too "African" and not conforming to the usual narratives seen in post-colonial lit. I also really loved My Favorite Thing is Monsters. It is such a unique graphic novel and such an intriguing story... I can't wait for the sequel! I hadn't heard about Ohio before but it sounds like I need to check that one out, so thanks! :)

Hi, thanks for the recommendations! I will put "Ohio" on my wish list, it seems my type of book :) I've "The Little Stranger" on my shelf since 2015 and didn't read it yet... maybe I'll give it another chance this year :) Did you read "A Little Life"? It's a huge book and I love it! I think you would like to get lost in it :) I never comment here but I love your channel and yours videos. The way you talk about books is lovely ❤

Will be interested to hear what you think of The Little Stranger. I saw the recently released movie version and thought it was a real stinker but I have no idea how true it stayed to the book. Loved Sarah Waters The Paying Guests so Hollywood may have just ruined her story as they often do.

I loved "The Resurrection of Joan Ashby" by Cherise Wolas that is until the last quarter of the book, the ending felt rushed and lost some passion. Or at least this was my experience, I was so disappointed in the end. I might try it again to see if I have the same experience because the first half of the story was so good.

did read and enjoyed "the little stranger"but i've enjoyed all of sarah waters and some more than this one...delighted to hear you love dickens. i do too and just this morning read the end o an interesting though very objective essay on dickens by george orwell and since i immediately wanted to share it , now i will. he ends the essay with the image of an author's face shining through his works and says of dickens... "I see a face that is not quite the same as Dicken's photographs, though it resembles it. it is the face of a man about forty, with a small beard, and high colour. he is laughing, with a touch of anger in his laughter, but no triumph, no malignity. it is the face of a man who is always fighting against something, but who fights in the open and is not frightened, the face of a man who is generously angry--in other words, of a nineteenth-century liberal, a free intelligence, a type hated with equal hatred by all the smelly little orthodoxies which are now contending for our souls."
