@@krispingle I'm not opposed to advertisement videos in general, but if the creator doesn't make it clear on their own that the video is just an ad and not a regular video that's been sponsored then it just feels slimy. I'll point to Adam Ragusea as someone who does it in a way that I personally find unoffensive. They ALWAYS start by him saying "This is a sponsored video/advertisement for ". No realizing halfway through that all he wants to do is sell you something, you know right from the start and you can decide if you want to watch that or not without having to come to the slow realization yourself.

6:29 Windows ARM is only currently able to run on some Pixel models using a KVM implementation that is mainly geared towards sandboxing apps. It doesn't currently have any hardware acceleration for graphics unfortunately. There was some momentum directly from Google on getting Chrome OS to run, but they have seemingly stopped updating that specific project and said that it was never intended to be implemented.
@sharoyveduchiАй бұрын
ARM is not efficient just because it's RISC. Don't get confused about that. First of all that ARM CPU in your phone isn't even really RISC at this point. It has SIMD instructions, which is something they took from x86 CPUs. x86 were the first with SIMD instructions with their MMX instructions included in the Pentium 2, and then SSE in the Pentium 3, and much later on with AVX. Second of all, the only thing ARM has going for it is that they specialized in making it use less power while idling and many implementations use much fewer transistors than desktop chips. A lot of cheap devices with ARM CPUs that seem "power efficient" only seem that way because they're optimized at literally doing nothing, as in they have perfected the art of dropping down to a low CPU frequency and doing nothing at all besides keeping the RAM awake and being able to wake up and continue operating. Only recently we got Apple's M1 chips which convinced a lot of people that they can do more than sleep all day but the thing is that they're only somewhat more efficient than AMD's x86 CPUs and not let's say 5 times more efficient. I'm pretty sure it's not even twice as efficient. A lot of their efficiency gains are dirty tricks like putting the RAM onto the CPU die and using TSMC's latest manufacturing technology. Well guess what? Intel's going to do the same thing with their laptop chips. This generation they're putting the RAM on the CPU die and also using TSMC for the manufacturing. Now we'll see who is 'efficient'.

Neat, and I'd love to use one, but they are super expensive for being ARM devices. Truthfully, I wish we would see a new CISC platform popup with no attempt at backwards compatibility with x86 and just a clean ISA. Of course, I do wonder why everyone touts number of GPR's when flogging any RISC chip. With CISC it's simply unnecessary as most things can be done with only 8 registers anyway because you can operate on memory and a register at the same time. RISC needs the extra registers because you have to constantly load things from memory to work with them then store them back. It also doesn't make sense to have separate load and store instructions where CISC just gives you one instruction. Makes it a lot easier to deal with.

Things you can't do on a phone is having any chance of any sort of access to at least the OS level software stack in most cases and have working drivers or documentation to implement them to a level of capability to the stock, and not be left high and dry when the OEM decides they think you should buy a whole new device and toss the one you have that may otherwise be totally capable of doing what you need.
